Hillary must have something more planned.....this can't be ending
Edited on Sat May-31-08 12:36 AM by Dems to Win
Hillary Clinton is too happy and mellow. Drinking wine with the reporters, having fun being a tourist at Mt. Rushmore. And now saying we will know the nominee by the end of next week?

She should be angry and desparate and lashing out. I cannot believe that she is calmly accepting defeat.

The Clintons MUST have something up their sleeve. A dirt bomb to drop on Obama in August, a secret agreement with the superdelegates, or something.

I would feel more confident if she were still fighting like a caged tiger.

1. Maybe they hit her with one of those huge animal tranquilizers like
they use on Animal Planet....

Or, yeah, you could be right.

2. Not really. Most people are calm and cool when they realize defeat.
Especially if they've been under a lot of pressure.

7. It is quite a weight lifted off your shoulders
It will bring up other issues about her political future but she knows that she has a ton of time to deal with that.

3. it's called acceptance
she's gone through all the stages of grief. now the rest of the nation won't have to "feel her pain".

4. She finally came to the fork in the road
The one to the right meant that she would permanently damage her standing in the Senate. The one to the left leaves hope that she can parlay her runner-up position into political gain, or at least maintain her status as an important force in the party. I think she was smart and took the path that leads left. This is my opinion only.

8. Do you have a link to her saying we'll know the nominee
by the end of next week?

I ask because I've seen two posts stating opposite reports of how her campaign will decide tomorrow -- one post saying she will go with whatever is determined in the meeting, one post saying she will only accept if the committee agrees to her demands. Both were from blogs and both stated something like "Clinton's campaign has said..."

So I'm wondering if she actually said that about knowing the nominee, or if it's another opinion by a pundit.

Thanks!

And welcome to DU! :hi:

PS -- I agree with you, by the way.

10. She said it to reporters in Montana. Listen at this link
At USA Today blog:

Clinton: 'Natural progression' will bring nomination battle to an end soon

Hillary Rodham Clinton just told Montana-based reporters that the "natural progression" of things will bring the battle for the Democratic presidential nomination to a close soon after the primaries next Tuesday in the Big Sky state and in South Dakota -- the final two contests of the campaign season.

Clinton, naturally, still argues that she will come out ahead of Barack Obama. Here's what she said on a conference call that ended just a few minutes ago:

Thanks for the welcome. ::Wave::

12. She ain't going nowhere, let alone away.
Tomorrow's event is not about settling anything. It's about keeping it unsettled until it can be decided at the convention. The Clintons are not from the "statesman" (or stateswoman) school of politics. It's all about them. And so it will be so until they eventually wear out their legacy and it is shunned just like that of *. Sad way to go.

And yet they'll be lucky to inspire an opera (if they haven't already commissioned it).

14. Don't overestimate them!!

Remember, we were all shocked that a woman who had planned to run for the presidency for at least 4 years had no plan for after Super Tuesday. So why would we think she has any real plan here?

I think that's why nobody really knows the endgame. It's because the Clinton's don't know it. And until they figure out what that endgame is... we are all held hostage.
