6. I like him
Edited on Sat May-31-08 10:33 AM by Fighting Irish
And for people calling him Stephen Fetchit or saying he's mocking blacks, his congregation is mostly black and he is very close to Jesse Jackson. They even got arrested together at a protest. He's well-liked in the Chicago black community.

I would actually go to his services. He's a riot!

55. Really?
Gosh.
I guess sexist, racist mocking and demeaning people is kinda fun.
Hate is good too. Pandering to emotionalism always a laugh.
Jeering, gloating, snarling and prancing are amusing.

I agree he is very funny. If you keep the sound off.

27. Speaking as an Episcopalian, I wish that all the candidates would drop the nonstop godtalk
and get back to politics: you know, stuff like health care and the economy and national security and the like.

Remember how we used to gripe about George W. Bush's constant godtalk? Suddenly we don't think it's a big deal anymore, since Obama started doing it. How many "spiritual advisors" does one politician need? Obama seems to have more clergy advising him than Benedict XVI.

19. Pfleger isn't into that. It's caused a lot of friction with the higher-ups.
He last made the news when he asked his parishioners to buy time from prostitutes, in order to bring them to drug treatment centers, job training programs, clinics, and churches--if they wanted to. He's into direct assistance, not donations to repair cathedrals.

However the Catholic church does not endorse politics from the pulpit.

Most of this country prefers the separation of church and state. That you don't makes you an exception. Enjoy being 'special'.

wait the point of Christianity is forgiveness by God for your shortcomings.

If God can forgive Peter for denying him I'm sure the good Father will be fine for telling a joke about the Godess of Peace.

It should be noted mccain did NOT disavow hagee after his anti-Catholic views became public, but only after hagee started to commend hitler

I would hope most Catholics realize this, and also realize it was mccain who sought out hagee, even when his anti-Catholic position was known
