What happened between Dean and Edwards? I missed the debate.
I am reading some threads here that make it sound like Edwards was sticking up for Dean. What was said?

7. If you get a chance to watch the debate, by all means do so.
There were instances of what I would call more than simple cordiality between Edwards and Dean. It was almost as if they shared a joke.

Edwards went after Gep, for one thing--was almost the only candidate not to go after Dean, and the things he went after Gep about seemed to support Dean.

Dean (again) apologized profusely to Edwards about a mistake he had made earlier in his campaign.

There's more. Just watch it.

9. The apology is what makes it interesting. Dean must have been thinking som
-thing. Otherwise it could just be interpreted as Edwards wanting to creep up on Gephardt in Iowa.

He didn't have to apologize again.

10. He didn't have to, no. It wasn't the first time.
He was also very cordial to Dennis and Carol--something that was lied about in the AP/Yahoo article.

A flagrant lie.

Such "journalists" we have. No wonder nobody ever knows what the heck is going on.

18. Dean and CMB have always seemed friendly
I noticed in the early debates they were always side by side. I haven't seen it for sometime, but he and Carol are generally cordial. And I think she's the only one who hasn't come out and attacked him.

24. Yeah, they seem to like eachother.
And I think even Rev. Al (whom I missed in tonight's debate) will warm up after awhile. He was fairly angry at Dean earlier.

23. if he didn't rerun that apology to Edwards he would have had
to admit some other mistake....and dean doesn't seem to be able to admit errors.
remember what the question was....what mistake have you made.

11. Edwards in now the "stopper" of Dean lack of experience hole.

New buzz in Dean camp is Edwards can get some southern votes for
Dean.

BTW, who is your candidate? I am curious because this hole in the resume thing is a favorite theme of yours and I would like to discuss your candidates "holes". They all have them you know.

14. has that been discussed here before?
Edwards as a possible VP hadn't even crossed my mind, but in reading through these posts - especially the one about an inside joke - that's exactly what popped into my head. And watching the debate tonight I kept thinking that that sweet looking boy with that cute little accent could most certainly sweep the south. ;)

Anyway, I'm not following the primaries too closely so I'm not sure what's old news and what isn't. A Dean-Edwards ticket could be pretty interesting, I think.

13. Is it possible Dean appreciates that Edwards refuses to
stoop to the low standards of behavior that Lieberman thinks will help him? (Or that Edwards is smart enough to see that even though he really needs a boost, bashing Dean will do nothing but harm both of them and the Dems in general possible?)

Is it possible that Edwards realizes that, given that his positions are very close to Dean's on many issues (except the tax cuts), behaving more like Dean rather than bashing him may gain him more favor with Democratic and Independent voters?

15. Edwards does not want to "behave more like Dean" - the queen bee basher
Edwards has taken the high road from the beginning, running on a platform of optimism and hope - while Dean started the brawl the candidates are engaged in now.

it's the genesis of a Dean\Edwards ticket. Northerner\Southerner... what could be better.

19. I think some are reading way too much into this, but...
... there were at least some rhetoric similarities. Edwards was pushing both being an outsider, and a form of populism, speaking about controlling power of the lobbyists, etc. Here is a portion of Sen. Edward's closing statement. Remind you of an another candidate?

"The truth of the matter is, we need to not just change George Bush and his presidency; we need to change America.

And if you believe we can change America with people who spend most of their lives in politics or have been in Washington for decades, you have other choices.

I believe that you and I can change America together. I can't do it alone. But we can do it together.

And I believe in you. And don't you deserve a president of the United States who actually believes in you?

21. Edwards has been a populist his entire life.
He didn't just find the little guy - or Jesus - on the campaign trail.
