That being said... this is going to be a tough tough pill to swallow
I just posted this
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=6245255&mesg_id=6245255

for some time we have been watching what was pretty much inevitable (I do NOT mean that as a pun or joke). Since Iowa and definitely since Richardson broke and swung over to Obama this was pretty much done. It was razor thin but his early lead, as slight as it was, was next to impossible to overcome...by anyone

That being said we are watching a lifetime dream slip away. No it isn't over for her politically but even if Obama loses she will have a hard time running for president again. This is something she has been striving for since she was probably 12 years old or so. And god knows she put up with a hell of a lot more than most people would stick around for or put up with.

Watching a lifetime dream of MY "guy" (gore and then Kerry) was very very tough to do. I do empathise with her and her supporters.

We got a bit of a glimpse of it this weekend (liberal media and all) so let them vent, let them air it out for while while Obama gets to celebrate at the same time.

Hillary is the embodiment of the feminist movement (in all its waves) and of the former New Left. We all need to understand how hard this is going to be so let them have the next few months to ache and feel the pain and then lets all meet in Denver and take the first step towards fixing this mess we are about to take control over.

I have to go home tonight and tell my daughter that there is still a chance that she will someday have a woman President (even if she is too young to understand) but we have to get things right first or should I say make do with what is LEFT.

1. We won't see a woman potus in this century.
I don't believe the PTB will ever let it happen.

George Bush smooths path for Hillary

BUSH administration officials are paving the way for a smooth transition to a possible Democratic presidency as Hillary Clinton consolidates her position as the overwhelming favourite to win her party’s nomination for the 2008 election. <...>

With Clinton looking the near-inevitable nominee, Bush officials intend to hold her to her promise to be tough on defence and national security. Robert Gates, the defence secretary, is hoping to establish a bipartisan consensus on defence that will last beyond next year’s election.

In the clearest sign of a shift in gear, Gates is to appoint John Hamre, a former official in President Bill Clinton’s administration, to chair the Defense Policy Board once led by Richard Perle, a leading neoconservative advocate of the invasion of Iraq. The board’s job will be to prepare for the transition to a new administration in 2008, according to a Pentagon spokesman.

3. I nominate your reply for the stupidest post of the season
Because Hillary Clinton ran a lousy campaign you believe that the 'powers that be' are now committed for the next 92 years to prevent a woman from becoming president.

So they are going to remember all of this down to their great grandchildren?

People born 70 years from now are not going to vote for a woman because of what?

15. I nominate your response as the sanest post of the season
Hillary is a bad candidate, and a piss poor Democrat. She ran a terrible campaign, and was the biggest demagogue for the presidential race since George Wallace ran in 1972.

She has been atrocious, and her constantly appealing to women to vote for her because they have similar genitals was anything but feminist. A good woman will be elected president of the USA, but Hillary isn't a good woman. She's a child of privilege, spoiled rotten at every level, having never left the orbit of her father or husband.

7. Sure we will, the majority of voters are women now.
And after the first one, nobody will ever care again.

Personally, I have a feeling that nobody cares NOW. :hi:

11. New acronym for Hillary PTW (was)
The Clintons personified PTB, abused and degraded their power, overstayed their welcome, and savaged Progressives at every turn.

4. As a woman I will comment.
I didn't vote for Hill because I don't like her positions or her attitude. It had nothing to do with her being a woman. If I had a daughter I would tell her that personal integrity and philosophy is more important than gender. We work together as people to create a world that we can live in.

6. Life-long dreams slip away for many, many people.
Its just the way it goes.

And as for your "Hillary is the embodiment of the feminist movement".... I'm not even going to touch that one. I don't have the energy.

24.  I think the whole "sexism" argument has really...
sullied her role as a "feminist" for many of us. Myself, I just wouldnt want her to be a role model for my Daughter.

10. I'm sorry you're disappointed and hope you take the time you need
to sort this out.

I myself never saw Hillary Clinton as anything remotely resembling the embodiment of anything, let alone the feminist movement, in any of its waves, so I can't quite understand what you are moving through.

But, what Hillary Clinton did this year is remarkable, historic and we are all in her debt for being willing to blaze that trail.

13. Hillary is about as much the embodment of the New Left as LBJ was.
And, she is about as symbolic of feminism as Maggie Thatcher.

16. Okay okay
(my only response to this thread)

she is PORTRAYED as such. That is the IMAGE.

Maybe I just believed the "conventional wisdom" (not sure who promoted it)

I do think that a lot people see her as such or at least they did.

I'm just saying.

19. "Hillary is the embodiment of the feminist movement"
so, her husband screws around with an intern, lies about it, and then she goes into attack mode defending him. (and to anyone who thinks she really believed him when he said he hadn't done anything? I have a bridge to sell you........) Then she hangs on to his coattails to get elected to the Senate, and hangs on to his coattails a little longer to run for President.

thats the embodiment of the feminist movement?
