It's Funny. I Kinda Feel The Same Way I Did The Day I Got Out Of Jail.
It was hell for months. Every day hell. Days dragged on like weeks. Looked so forward to being free again. So forward to that day. Then it came. I always thought it would be an amazing day, and I'd just do anything and everything. Instead, I went home and just sat there. Had no idea what to do with myself. I just sat there and didn't do much of anything. Just total boredom.

Yeah, this kinda feels like that. Think I'm gonna go watch paint dry now lol.

Or maybe they are unable to discern what the overarching theme of the forum is yet, so don't know how to contribute.

8. I thought you were the type that could be bribed with cigarettes!
I felt like I was making little ones out of big ones the whole time GD: P was up!

I hear somethin' sayin'

(hooh! aah!) (hooh! aah!)
(hooh! aah!) (hooh! aah!)

(Well, don't you know)
That's the sound of the men working on the chain ga-a-ang
That's the sound of the men working on the chain gang

All day long they're singin'
(hooh! aah!) (hooh! aah!)
(hooh! aah!) (hooh! aah!)

(Well, don't you know)
That's the sound of the men working on the chain ga-a-ang
That's the sound of the men working on the chain gang

All day long they work so hard
Till the sun is goin' down
Working on the highways and byways
And wearing, wearing a frown
You hear them moanin' their lives away
Then you hear somebody sa-ay

That's the sound of the men working on the chain ga-a-ang
That's the sound of the men working on the chain gang

Can't ya hear them singin'
Mm, I'm goin' home one of these days
I'm goin' home see my woman
Whom I love so dear
But meanwhile I got to work right he-ere

(Well, don't you know)
That's the sound of the men working on the chain ga-a-ang
That's the sound of the men working on the chain gang

All day long they're singin', mm
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my work is so hard
Give me water, I'm thirsty

My work is so hard

Fortunately, I found a new obsession, which led to a slight improvement in the wretched state of mental health care in my area. We all do what we can.

So then... what's your position on voting rights of felons?

14. In NC you get your right to vote back as soon as your time is served and
you're off parole/probation. Seems fair to me...

15. I think that there shouldn't be any restrictions
I think that the three states that have it right: Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont:

NO DENIAL OF VOTING RIGHTS
Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont

DENIAL ONLY WHILE in PRISON
District of Columbia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Utah

DENIAL WHILE in PRISON or on PAROLE
California, Colorado, New York

DENIAL WHILE in PRISON, on PROBATION or on PAROLE
Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, West Virginia, Wisconsin

(Of the 138,300 persons of all races and genders currently disenfranchised in New Jersey, 27,500 are in prison, 69,200 are on probation and 41,500 on parole.)

DENIAL DURING PRISON, PAROLE, or PROBATION and BEYOND

26. I believe ex-felons should get their voting rights back
after they have served their full term.

I understand, under federal law, probation allows for voting rights.

Depends on state law.

(and yes, speaking from experience - ex-con here - did my full term, thank you)

21. Ennui.
Edited on Wed Jun-11-08 07:46 PM by TahitiNut
It's not just a word in a spelling bee or crossword puzzle. It's not unusual to feel ennui after a period of heightened stress.

"It was also known as ennui, the megrims, the blues, or the black dog. But whatever the name, the symptoms were always the same: listlessness, boredom, a sense that life was ultimately meaningless and futile, without point or purpose." (Terrance Dicks, The Eight Doctors, 1997)

 Like I care.

25. I cope with feelings of disorientation and displacement by watching reality TV.
Tonight I'm watching "She's Got The Look." It's a reality show about a modeling pageant for women over the age of 35.

Kim Alexis is the host, and I think she's a robot.
