Keep on truckin, Bob Barr: Georgia: InSane: 44% Obama: 43% Barr: 6%
(6/19/08) A New InsiderAdvantage / PollPosition survey conducted June 18 of registered likely voters in the November presidential contest shows Sen. John McCain leading Sen. Barack Obama by a single point in Georgia, making the race in Georgia a statistical tie. Libertarian Bob Barr, a former Republican Congressman from Georgia, received 6 percent of the vote.

The telephone survey of 408 registered likely voters is weighted for age, race, gender, and political affiliation. The survey has a margin of error of +/- 5%. It was conducted with InsiderAdvantage’s research partner Majority Opinion Research. PollPosition is InsiderAdvantage’s new branding name (look for additional information and expansion of PollPosition in the coming months).

1. Seriously, would it be against DU rules to discuss sending Barr money?
I mean, the purpose is obviously to help our candidate, which Barr can do, if he has the cash.

7. As much as it'd help, these are the same kind of tactics we usually, and should, decry.
Remember the Republican-funded Nader campaigns? Let's not gaze long into the abyss, folks. We're better than that.

9. Yeah, it was really the ethical issues I was getting at.
I'm so tempted, but I know it's wrong.

Is okay for me to pray he gets money? ;)

3. If he could get close to 10% in his native state, I think Obama would take GA with a strong
African-American turnout.

10. Barr is the Republican "Nader".
As the strong support for Ron Paul proved in the primaries, Libertarians are very disenchanted with McCain. At the very least, Barr will neutralize Nader.

12. Barr will outpoll Nader between 5 or 10 to one.
Nader will attract very few votes. Even his running mate in 2000 is for Obama.

Barr could very well Nader McCain here in Georgia.

150. Absolutely.
In fact, it's required.

Ahem; "discreet" being the operative word, I guess.

15. That was a surprising post of his there, not sure I'm comfortable with that
There have always been rules prohibiting support of non-Democratic candidates...overt, covert, discreet, oblique or otherwise...i.e. all the Naderites and Cynthia McKinney (in her current independent incarnation) fans are usually clamped down upon sooner or later.

But, hey, the boss calls the shots here, so...

17. That's great...
Hopefully Barr's candidacy will gain traction and it will siphon off votes from mcbush the same way Perot gave us states which would never normally go blue like Georgia, Tennessee and Montana.
