Oh NOeS ! NYT: Obama's Decision THREATENS Public Finance System !!
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/20/us/politics/20finance.html

I woke up and turned on my computer this morning to see THIS ominous headline staring back at me. I had to laugh.

The RW, the Media, the Pundits.. they have absolutely NO idea how to handle Obama or what to think of him. The more they try to paint him a villain, the more I love him.

He is fighting for us. He is fighting for our country.. to return it back to US. As corny as it sounds, my heart is overflowing with pride.

That is all :-)

Thank you, Senator Obama.. our next and best President of the United States.

1. Why does John McCain need government handouts?
That guy should get a job.

2. I have to say, I agree with the NYT on this
That was my big concern about Obama opting out, and why I think he was so torn about it. My concern was that it would make it tough for candidates to take public financing in the future and be competitive. Dean and Kerry set a bad precedent by opting out in the primaries last time, and as I predicted, it made it tough for serious candidates to take public financing this time. Now Obama is the first candidate in 30 years to opt out for the general, and it could make it tough for candidates to take public financing in the future and wage serious campaigns.

On the other hand, Obama won a closely fought primary, and he owes it to the party and to the country to do everything he can to win. I agree with the GOP strategist who said yesterday that opting in could be considered political malpractice.

3. He is showing how tough he is.
Better deal with this now then have the 527s sliming him day and night and not having the money to fight back. The republicans are pissed-off because McCain doesn't have the organization.

4. Not until graf 15 do we get the real story
But the use of the Internet to raise campaign money at least plays into the spirit of campaign finance reform, some analysts said, and possibly does more to rein in the influence of big donors and special interests than 30 years of restrictions imposed by federal law.

Thanks, NYT and "some analysts," for the nod to that big ol' special interest, the citizenry of the U.S.

7. The one that lets 527s run wild
This story has been brought you by the owners and operators of Judy Miller's WMD Mart.

Yeah, they care so much about the public.

8. The headline is very misleading
In fact, the writer of the article does not even seem to think it's a bad thing.
