Why is the blogosphere going batshit crazy over something nobody else seems to care about?
Sorry, but I am having a hard time getting as worked up about FISA as some bloggers are today or seeing why this particular statement Obama made is such a monumental shift that changes the way people feel about him. I have gone door to door in many states for Obama and have never once heard anyone complain about retroactive telecom immunity. Most people I talked to were more worried about keeping their jobs and their healthcare and dealing with the price of gas. Those who had other reasons for their vote decision were usually racist or just uninformed. I don't know that much about the FISA compromise, but I know that the only place I ever hear about it is on the blogosphere. If it's really such a big deal why don't people outside the blogosphere ever talk about it?

I'm not saying I support companies spying on Americans, but honestly, I care more about the fact that AT&T provides good union jobs and is one of the few companies that actually supports their union than I do about whether or not they get fined retroactively for complying with a government request. Am I missing something here?

2. We're close to the finish line
and some folks are getting impatient. And I hope it doesn't screw things up.

On the other hand. When we have the House, Senate and White House, Democrats will have no more excuses for shit like this.

5. This is why:

The Fourth Amendment of the Constitution:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Understand now?

7. Oh, gosh, now you've done it
Bringing the "it's-no-big-deal" people a dose of American reality.

It's no big deal to people who don't know shit about the Constitution. Or what's left of it.

Reminds me of the woman interviewed here in Houston after 9/11 who said she was fine if inspectors needed to get the rubber gloves out and use them on her before she boarded a plane. Well, I'm not fine and Ben Franklin would tell us we all deserve to live in a police state.

SHEEEEEEEEEEEPLE.

8. Exactly, why can't people just read the Constitution?
Despite what may be implied by the OP many people cared about the Constitution long before there were blogs.
