Looks as though we're stuck with FISA as it stands. I'd much rather have President Barack Obama
overseeing it than President John W. McBush.

That, of course, is just my own opinion; you are free to vary your mileage or something.

1. The new bill has a 2012 sunset provision anyway so...
they can always cancel it in four years.

2. Trying to think strategically here... I guess this would remove

one talking point from McCain's arsenal about dems (and Obama) being weak on terrorism.

Also, Obama did say:

"It does, however, grant retroactive immunity, and I will work in the Senate to remove this provision so that we can seek full accountability for past offenses."

So, while I hate immunity, perhaps this has a strategic value.

11.  Good point. He should also vote for torture and war with Iran.
That'll really show those Republicans!!

3. I'm not going to stop supporting Obama, for sure
I'd like to see them have a separate vote on immunity with Obama making a strong stand against it. I have a lot of trust that Obama will figure out a way if there is a way to be figured. If he doesn't, it will disappoint me, but politicians do that. If I expected every single thing to go my way, I'd never support any candidate. Right now, it's all about John McCain for me.

5. Ditto
I hate telephone wiretapping and I hate the idea of someone monitoring my Internet activity. However, as long as I know that the intrusions were approved by a court, I'm not as freaked out.

I am pissed about retroactive immunity being in this new bill. Then again, if the Senate manages to remove that provision and get this bill passed, Bush will veto it. It's a Catch-22 all the way around.

6. I trust him. I trust that he knows what he is doing. He hasn't disappointed me yet and I don't
believe he is disappointing me now. Those who are now smearing him have truly underestimated this man.

7. I blame the leaders in the house that wrote this bill and voted for it
and then put it on the floor for a full vote.

We will see what the Senate does next week but I don't expect much.

8. This was a very poor decision by Obama.
I am very disappointed in him.

He still has my vote, but I won't be as enthusiastic.

9. Given the choice yes but after Barack who? And it's not just Barack
it's an entire spider organization manned by people we don't even know. Most of the goons spying on us are freaks from the Right. That doesn't give me the warm fuzzies. No President should be overseeing such a program. We'll only be stuck with it if we take it lying down. Have you called Obama's office?

14. I don't want either Obama or McCain to "oversee" shit regarding this FISA change...
I wouldn't trust either of them with that power.
