BWARE!...Buchanan, Barr and Nader could "Throw this Election!"
There are so many "disaffected voters" that even Rachel Maddow on MSNBC (filling in for David Gregory) managed to get this out there.

We do need to realize that there are many "disaffected voters" that could "throw this election."

Folks unhappy with Bush, Hillary and Obama and who rallied around Ron Paul..and those who listen to "Libertarian Radio." That's your COALITION that could THROW this ELECTION...!

What do you think? I know there a "Libertarians, Socialists and Anarchists and those Disillusioned with Democrats who will be voting in November '08.

I am worried that Obama can never live up to what folks expect to him...following in the footsteps of ALL our CANDIDATES FOR CHANGE..who got trashed like Carter and Clinton.

Why will OBAMA be able to overcome what Carter and Clinton crashed and burned on?

As an "older DU'er" ...I see Obama being set up JUST LIKE..Carter and Clinton...

1. Since you've been here since 2001
I hope this doesn't get locked and you don't get labeled a concern troll for trying to voice your honest feelings about this.

Though I personally that these independent candidates will favor Obama.

3. Throw it how?

The so-called disaffected voters are all over the political spectrum this time around. You've got at least as many right-wingers who hate McCain as you do left-wingers who think Obama is just another corporate tool.

The worst case I see at this point is a strong 3rd party that somehow appeals just enough to both groups to draw their votes, sorta like Perot did in '92. (And that won't be Nader.) But that doesn't "throw" the election because it would draw away from both parties, just like it did in '92 and to a lesser extent '96.

10. In reality it won't be Nader, it won't be Paul, it won't be Barr.
But their presence in the mix can provide a lot of opportunities for mischief--places to "sink" votes. Like "Jews for Buchanan." People would be more willing to believe a bogus 10% for Barr than a fictitious 51% for McNutso.

5. A coalition of less than 1%
That may draw as many votes from McCain as it does from Obama is probably nothing to get all freaked out about.

6. I think we're all living with those jitters, KoKo.
It's pretty damn hard, after getting stomped and beaten through dirty and outright criminal politics like we have for the last 8-16 years (I'll take it back to Newt in '94), to imagine that we're not due for more of the same.

8. Are you a chronic worrier? Their votes are Obama's to earn
It's up to Obama to convince them he's a good deal. FISA isn't a step in the right direction.

9. Right on
You are right, Obama, nor anyone else, can possibly live up to our un-realistic expectations. He cannot do it alone that's why it will take a whole country to get behind him and work with him in their community. Stop looking for one person to be our savior

17. ah, we'll just call you a "concern geezer" instead.....
;)

anyway, i wouldn't worry about what 3rd party candidates will do. barr would suck votes from the right while nader sucks votes from all over the spectrum.

the things to be worried about is the machinery in OH and FL. same song as 2000 and 2004. if the pigs keep it close enough, that's the only way they can steal it again.

OH and FL people: be vigilent this year. don't let the pigs do it a third time. get some pliers and blowtorches and go medeival on their asses!

16. That will never happen
In these last seven years the war, the trashing of our constitution and other things have been so much more horrific than anything that has happened during the Carter and Clinton eras. It's gone way beyond reason and people know that Obama is our only hope. The people I talk to are very focused on that. Nothing is going to turn people's heads around now.

19. Of Course They'll Throw The Election
To Obama. Principally Barr. Nader won't be a problem this time around after the last 8 years his vanity run will be on life support. There will be no Donohues rallying around his flag. The real problem is Paul and Barr, and the votes they will be siphoning off will be McCain's. Though to be accurate it's Barr who's running with Paul's support.
