Could OBAMA "Impolde" under all the HOPES who are Invested in Him?
I worry about both Michell and Barack....that they can withstand what is coming after them.

Bush/Cheney Impeachment...Hopes from Progressives that can NEVER be REALIZED... Triangulation from the Pelosi/Hoyer/Emmanuel/Reid wing of the House!

Of the Dems that would support Obama in the Senate...I can think of Senator Kennedy...who is undergoing Chemotherapy for "Brain Tumor"...but can't think of anyone else "SOLID" for Obama there.

It's the "US HOUSE" that's the key. And they have defied the "OBAMA PROMISE" with their "Hat Tip to Bush for FISA IMMUNITY!"

It's a very though road for Obama to got down....It's almost impossible...and we've seen so many of our "Democrats who Promised Change" go down that lonely road before him.

What do you think? Has he learned from Carter and Clinton? How will Obama be different than all those DEM Candidates that I sunk my hopes in for SO MANY YEARS?

1. Apparently he is smart enough to learn from the past
Jimmy C seemed to think being ethical and moral would carry the day and Billy C seemed to think that nothing could ever touch him, no matter how unethical or immoral the things he did.

Big O seems too smart to replicate their errors, and too Chicago-canny to fall for the GOPuke attacks.

2. I consider this flamebait........
It's not impossible the least.

This thread is not only a downer based on its headline, but it is not taking into consideration that Barack Obama is Barack Obama.

3. He probably won't be all that different
I just thought he'd wait until after he (maybe) got elected to start doing things the usual crooked way.

18. Maybe crooked was too strong
I guess what I meant to say was that it wasn't going to be long until we started doing the 'ol "compromise = give the Republicans 90% of what they want and claim victory" maneuver.

5. Kerry is very strong in his backing of Obama
It's not just Kennedy. Clare McCaskill and Amy Klobuchar also. There are a number of others as well. But since Kennedy and Kerry are my Senators, they came to my mind first.

9. It is definitely not a flameout..It is a reality...that he is proving to be more of a politician
than was originally thought...Why is that a surprise? Will voters be able to work with that or will he be looked at as a misleading politician?

21. you got what I was posting about.... What happens after Inauguration...
The "Powers that Be" seem to always co-opt our Dem Politicians who always run on "Hope and Change." Bill Clinton...the "Man from Hope, Arkansas, Jimmy Carter, "the President who vowed to run in all 50 States and some...and was a "common Peanut Farmer from Georgia" (hardly a DC Insider) and Al Gore...who did his first run after a couple of years in Senate...who Promised CHANGE...in the 80's..and then ran again as Clinton's VP...who had "reformed Government" but the Clinton scandals seemed to stick to him.

Our Dems have always been fine people...running against the "Powers that Be" and against the DC "Inside the Beltway" ...yet they always are corrupted or get into office and have all the crap thrown at them...they never survive. Clinton did the best ...two terms...but he gave away everything to last those two terms and eventually imploded in a sex scandal...although "THE PEOPLE" never gave him the horrendous low poll ratings that Bush II has. Yet...Bush II is still winning everything......

Just saying.....

11. I took much heart for this comment on a blog by a person from Illinois:
As a Chicagoan who has watched Obama emerge on the national scene, I couldn't agree with you more about his cunning and charisma. Before things really started ramping up, people asked me whether he had a chance against the Clinton attack machine and I said "I look at all his opponents on both sides of the aisle and think, you poor, sad fools. You don't even know what you are getting into."

Every time I read articles about this I think about Herndon's statement about Lincoln:

"That man who thinks Lincoln sat down calmly and gathered his robes about him, waiting for the people to call him, has a very erroneous knowledge of Lincoln. He was always calculating, and always planning ahead. His ambition was a little engine that knew no rest."

That describes Barack Obama to a tee which is precisely why he is such an incredibly deadly politician.

Know hope.

17. That there is some good stuff.
The bigger he gets the more truth there appears to be in that statement. If it is true, I really think we are finally going to win this one.

Mr. Smith goes to Washington was a movie. This is the real deal and the idealized fantasies are going to evaporate.

16. You think Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton imploded under hope?
Um. I don't get it.

Jimmy Carter is a Nobel Peace prize winner. The man has stood for what is right and just all his life.

Bill Clinton, despite his love for the fairer sex, was a very successful president has already begun a remarkable post presidency of service to the planet and is beloved by throngs around the globe.

I'm trying to see where the bad is.

20. Are we talking about after Obama wins the Presidency?
And if not, are you saying because he might not be able to provide every promise to everybody, that we all should choose another candidate? And if so, do you know your talking about choosing McSame? Because this is the only other candidate with the most likely chance of winning if Obama doesn't.

If you want McSame be my guest and vote for him. But everyone here already made their choice, so your pretty much barking up the wrong tree here.

But...yes...I do wonder. Given all the "Great Dems" we've seen go down the tubes in the past.

I wonder....

26. Not to worry, he does what what we need best
We have already witnessed the near end of reputations and careers of those who stand against him, and for the wrong future.

Part of what he does best is motivation.
