3. Would we lose the the committee chairmanships were he to switch?
Edited on Wed Jun-25-08 12:48 PM by Buck Rabbit
What would happen should he caucus with the Republicans? I don't know myself, whether Cheney being the tiebreaker puts the Republicans back in the majority position and committee chairmanships get reassigned.

8. If Lieberman switches, then the Republicans get the Senate.
Since Cheney would in fact have the tie-breaking vote.

9. That's what I was afraid of. In that case....
I support kissing his ass until November then strip him of everything possible.

11. Don't think we would lose much. Lieberman votes as he wants now. And I think
we would retain all chairpersonships until after the next election.

13. It switched immediately with Jeffords shift
People have posted that that was unusual - but it would be a reason not to do it if so - who has the majority matters even if nothing in the way he votes changes.

14. News flash: The Republicans HAVE the Senate. And the House.
What do we have? Some dry fucking powder.

16. News Flash: if you were right, and you're not, then what difference would it make?
What would be gained by "ousting" lieberman? Other, than of course, ensuring that you could enjoy the fine work that would be done by Judiciary Committee chairman Hatch or Environmental Committee Chair Inhofe or Armed Services Cmmittee Chair McCain.

6. I signed and commented too-Lieberman has no shame
Here's what I put in the comments.

"Joe Lieberman is an embarrassment to the Dem party, CT, and HIMSELF. He needs to be taken off the Senate Dem Steering Committee as soon as possible. CT needs to see if he can be recalled from his Senate seat too. SOON."

I don't believe that he would have been elected last time if people would have known what kind of Senator he would become this term. If he wants to be a Repub, he needs to run as one and let the voters of his state decide to elect him as a Repub. I think he lied about his intentions in Congress when he ran last time as an Independent.

10. He was elected by Republicans, who did not vote at all for thier own candidate,
because the party bigwigs told them all to vote for Lieberman. Some of L's votes were from inattentive (low-information) Dems and Independents who were voting on name recognition or based on his campaign promises (lies), but a lot of his votes were from Republicans who were instructed to vote for him rather than for the Republican candidate.

18. Yep.. Joementum will be relegated to the back-bench
I hope he loses ALL committee positions.. as an independent, he is not guaranteed ANYTHING..

Make the rat-bastard choose.. he wants to be a republican so badly, let him BE one..

Unfortunately, the people of CT are stuck with him until the next go-round, and I'm guessing he'll choose to NOT run again, thereby sparing himself a humiliating defeat..

Joe's DONE!!

19. Dear Senator Reid, please turn control of the Senate over to the Republicans. Thxkbai
PS, if you could do this in a way to help create the impression that Democrats can't tolerate a diversity of opinion on political issues, I'd really appreciate that too. Laters!
