Obama's answers to reperations & national apology questions on CNN.
Hey, unfortunately I couldn't see the event live but while reading the threads I saw this question being asked; but not Obama's response. Can anyone type his response out?

Thanks!

1. I love it when white folks try to gin up as much "radical black man" shit as possible.

6. It was a black-ish woman that asked him the question. I was surprised..
that Malveux went there and that at the conclusion she suggested that Obama is going to 'owe' blacks folks at the end of the process for our support. :wtf: I don't know what black people she has been talking too but I don't know any who is expecting Obama to govern with a "black" agenda.

7. Talking heads just follow scripts given to them....
And even more commonly so with black talking heads who help the ginning-up because they're scared that THEY'LL get pegged as "radical anti-white" if they don't play along.

8. Sounds like they are just trying to ruffle some feathers...
...get some of those hardcore 20%ers to come out in full force. Trying to paint Obama as some purely racial candidate.

4. Thanks!
Because of my background, this is something that is indeed related to me. I haven't yet heard anyone dare ask McCain any racial related questions....

9. Thanks again...
I heard everything just fine. Those were indeed some tough questions. Obama as usually gave an extremely well thought out answer on both. I just can't help but to wonder how McCain would have fumbled on such questions.

11. Essentially
With regards to both the Native American apology and Reparations for Slavery:

He acknowledged the injustice of past behavior and the effects that still linger today. He touched on pretty much every grievance of the Native Americans.

But with regards to the Native American issue, he said that he would not comment on any such policy without consulting with tribal leaders on their thoughts about it.

And he did not endorse Reparations, but instead focused on making things right NOW ... by increasing opportunities for everyone and creating an environment in which all Americans care about the advancement of their fellow people.

Diplomatic answer to some tough questions.

Being black myself, I know it was hard to answer the Reparations thing. Endorsing them would pretty much be the end of Obama's candidacy. Its would confirm the irrational "payback time" fear that certain whites have about Obama.

13. I guess you're right about the reparations thing...
But I really hope it happens some day in the not-too-distant future.

12. I caught it - and Obama jumped all over it -
Edited on Sun Jul-27-08 01:48 PM by givemebackmycountry
It's not verbatim but basically his response was:

The best kind of reparation we could provide is better schools with more teachers, and more opportunities for a higher education for everybody. Better jobs, better access to health care...

I agree with another poster in the MTP Brokaw thread.
I believe he enjoys sparring with these idiots because they are so easy to smack down.
In the past few weeks I've seen him absolutely slap down some of these ass-hats, and then sit back and smile.

Like when Ali destroyed Joe Frazier in the ring, because Frazier called him "Cassius Clay" after he had changed his name to Ali.

"What's my name Joe?"
BAM!
"What's my name Joe?"
BAM!
"Name Joe, What's my name Joe!"
BAM! BAM!

McCain and the rest of his sycophants don't know what's coming.
Just like poor Joe Frazier didn't know how mad Ali was at him.
He found out.

edited for stupid spelling error
