Maybe Obama Is to Blame...Or are Dems this Dumb?
Edited on Mon Aug-04-08 02:04 PM by kurtboss

Over at AmericaBlog is a little story about how all the outside organizations in place to trash McCain were shut down a couple months ago by Obama. I know he said there was no place for 527s, but I had no idea they honestly listened to him. I mean WTF??? What he was saying was COVER for those organizations to operate and still allow him to denounce them when he needed to.

So,I guess my question is whether Obama forced these operations to shut down, and if so, how? Did he say they wouldn't get work in DC again or something>??? If that's the case, Obama is most certainly to blame if he gets swiftboated. On the other hand, if these places just shutdown because Obama made some speeches about them, then it's the Dem establishment that is shockingly stupid. Anyone know the skinny, or are all of us on the outside looking in?

Regardless of who shut them down, they need to get up and running. It's not too late. These operations only need a donation and 3 people to start up. We need them to distract and change the media narrative on occasion. Any hope of this can happen? Any indications it is happening?

1. Obama shut them down by discouraging his big-money donors from contributing.

I guess he wanted a single, unified message, instead of a bunch of independent contractors going every which way. At this point, I'm not sure which strategy is best.

2. Then It's Time for Them to Do What's Right
And ignore his dumb advice. I like Obama, but if this is true, it really is a mistake on his part. And no reason for these people to continue taking bad advice.

One problem. Obama is no dummy, officially he can't have anything to do with these operations anyway. Why would they listen to him?

3. The only dumb advice I see is coming from you.
MoveOn and other organizations can still release ads. So I don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

4. They can't donate to Obama's campaign, but they can still pay for ads
I think it's interesting because it gives these organizations more money to spend on ads and GOTV activities. Obama is fundraising on his own just fine without their help so far so this might be the best strategy for this particular campaign.
