Do you think Obama is going to use the Keating 5 against McCain?
After reading this post at Huffington the history of McCain's corruption would be a perfect opportunity for Obama to nail McCain.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/08/07/leaked-mccain-memo-paint_n_117484.html

"The strategy, which was authored by Taylor Griffin -- a veteran of the Bush White House and Treasury Department who serves McCain as a senior adviser -- seems built around traditional themes. The McCain campaign will paint Obama as being "aligned with trial lawyers" and "unions (card check, trade, education reform)," and push the frame that he "raises taxes" and "will kill jobs."

"In contrast, McCain will be positioned as a bold leader on economic matters, someone who has a "record of taking on corporate interests" and will "fight speculation driving up prices of oil and food" as well as "the lawsuit culture."

"People are tired of big corporations, lobbyist and special interests who they feel prosper at their expense," the memo reads. "People must understand that John McCain is not only thinking of their future, but their children's futures as well."

1. I think he'll do better to concentrate on McCain's more recent corruption
Like how he's in the pocket of the oil companies. If that isn't effective, he should drag out the Keating 5.

2. Yes.
In October Obama should link McCain's most recent "interesting" financial dealings with his Keating 5 years.

3. If he tied the Keating 5 scandal to the Hess and Sargeant Oil donations, it'd work.
It would go a long way towards exposing McCain as a Fraud. It'd expose him as a pay for play typical politician. Plus it might get the media more interested in those suspicious contributions from those groups. If they expose either or both as fraud, it'd really damage the McMyth.

4. I don't think O should do it, but
John Kerry would have no problem trowing it out there. He's fearless right now; nothing to lose.

7. I think he's holding it as
an ace in the hole. If/when Rev Wright ads spring up I except to seeing Keating 5 ads as well as adultry ads brought out.

6. No - but it doesn't stop US and EVERYONE ELSE to bring up these things...
And we SHOULD at every opportunity...

Obama should not stoop to the level of mcINSANE...

mcINSANE is doing himself in well enough all by himself...

can't wait for the debates...

8. I don't think he should hammer him on it with attack ads,
but I hope he has a few choice phrases ready for the debates. If McCain cries 'foul' at that, THEN you bring out the ads to give credence to the charges in the debate.

9. No. Bring that up would be a great way to get the media to absolutely hate Obama.
We all have to remember that the media has a long and enduring love affair with McCain. Even though they are not happy with "the maverick's" latest ads, they still will jump at any chance to defend him.

Bringing up something that McCain has been cleared of would be the perfect opportunity for the media to jump all over Obama and unite behind McCain. I can hear Tweety now "Why would Obama bring up something that McCain has been cleared of!? This looks like an attempt by the Democrats to smear a good and honest man!"

13. Clinton was cleared by two special prosecutors, the Pillsbury Report,
the courts (even called the victims in the first federal Whitewater prosecution's summary.

what good did it do him?

media are all powerful, and they decide what the drooling masses get to consume

that's really all that matters. they control the message, and it's almost impossible to overcome. clinton did it, due in large measure because he was running against someone almost as lame and unattractive as McCain.

this time there's no advantage of the incumbent redounding to Obama

maybe the week off will dovetail nicely with the media's caterwauling about his being overexposed, and they can CONCENTRATE on McC. that can only hurt the craven mendacio, unless the media are even more cynical than I can imagine.

the more the people see the real mccain, the less they like him. stay on the stump, john. keep providing youtube fodder

whore your wife out some more. that was GOOD!

11. I hope so. Or maybe get one of his surrogates to attack
McCan'ts Keating 5 history. But Democrats have NEVER been good at circling the wagons and either protecting their candidate/President or attacking for their candidate/President.

Democrats are pathetic in this situation.
