Another Democrat for Kucinich!
What a difference a coup makes!!!

Back in the 90's, I made the decision to only vote for people I wanted in office, and not to vote for the 'Lesser of Two Evils' anymore...

So, I voted Nader (Please don't flame me...Nafta, the DLC, the Corporate Jail & Media system, the neverending War on Drugs...these all scared me away from the DLC approved agenda for 2000). In retrospect, I don't think Nader had America's best at heart, or he wouldn't have tried so hard in close states, hence allowing the 4th (or is it 5th?) Reich to take over. But, I tend to be an idealist, and take people at their words (pretty silly for a 'politically aware' person, hunh???), so I voted Nader. (And as an aside, if Gore had come out with speeches 1/10 as strong as he has this year, I would have seriously considered him, even with the above problems).

Seeing how far America has fallen in three short years, I will probably never vote 3rd party again. But I want to vote for someone I want, not for the 'Lesser of Two Evils'.

Needless to say, I had some soul searching to do. I want to vote for the person I want in there, but I want Bush out!!! I think I finally figured how I'm going to vote in Maine's caucus here (and I've flip-flopped, and done a heckuva lotta thinking on this one.)

My heart says that Dennis Kucinich is the best candidate (or at least the person who is closest in line to my personal views of politics). So, I will proudly vote for Dennis Kucinich in the caucus. His views on the war, healthcare, and personal freedoms are very in line with my own, and I am happily throwing my two cents in, and voting for Representative Kucinich. This way I can vote for the person I seriously think would be the best person to be President of the US.

But I will also say, that in the general election, I will vote for whatever Democrat wins the primary. I would be thrilled with every candidate but one (guess!!!), so I will have no problem voting for another candidate if Kucinich doesn't win the nomination. Dean, Clark, Kerry, Braun, Edwards, Sharpton, or Gephardt would all be strong candidates, and I will be proud to vote for any of them for President. All of them carry messages of hope, especially compared to the fear mongers of the current administration.

In my heart though, I hope Kucinich's message can inspire enough people to vote for him in the primaries. My logical sense tells me this probably won't happen, but at least I can be true to myself by voting for the person I think would be our best President.

I will then vote for the Democrat who wins the nomination in the general election (even if Lieberman does take it). I hope it will be Kucinich, but at this point I would take Paulie Shore over Bush. Anybody but Bush, ANYBODY!!!

2. here, here!
that is an excellent way to put it, i feel the same way, and i only wish that all of the people who have stated here at the DU that they really like what our man has to say, and that they sincerely believe he is the candidate the most closely mirrors their beliefs, votes for him...

i too will support any democratic candidate in the general

the kucinich kids have proven to be the most positive, kind, and thoughtful people i have met here!

join us!

6. I agree on the "Kucinich Kids" comment...
Although the infighting did not influence my decision, the very rational responses of Kucinich supporters have been a breath of fresh air during the many flame wars.

I just hope everyone remembers who the real enemy is, and when a candidate is finally chosen by the majority of Dems, everyone lines up and supports them...I certainly will!!!

I'm an idealist.

I support Dennis.

America needs a dose of idealism to raise the current standard of expectations, goals, and aspirations.

I favor recapturing the New Frontier, picking up the torch which didn't quite get passed.

7. That's great because he really supports unions and all workers...
marching with SEIU, brought the house down with dockworkers... a great choice!!

Another person for Kucinich: saw the C-Span interview and said,"I'm for him!!" He was so impressed by DK's humility and desire to help ordinary people."Not your typical candidate," he said. I gave him a Kucinich bumper sticker.

14. Interestingly, I've gotten several
phone calls and noted a few signups locally that are stunning. Our State Autoworkers Union contact person signed up, apparently shortly after I contacted him about collecting anti-FTAA ballots!

We've also got a LOT of Democratic Party members volunteering in Indiana, and more coming in all the time. I was stunned at how many signups we got on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. I last checked the database on the 23rd of December and had 50 from Dec. 16th-23rd. I'm not even sure how many I got after that because it was too many to count up that easily!

People can blow him off as insignificant if they choose, but they do so at their own risk.

15. there is a groundswell here in PA as well!
while we are less 'significant' than other states in the primaries due to our late polling date, i just sat down with the original six friends i turned into kucinich kids, and by a conservative estimate there's nearly a hundred more since i came on board (ya know: two friends tell two friends etc.etc...) the DU...

this cannot be a local phenomenon...the press has to catch on to this...

it just feels right, and very satisfying to have faith and trust in a politician, and everyone coming aboard seems to echo this sentiment...

keep up the good work

10. We need to vote our consciences in the primaries
If Dennis doesn't win, what does that have to say about the consciences of voting Democrats? Although I would probably vote for the party nominee (regardless of his or her identity), I know a lot of people who won't vote for Dean and I'm hoping he doesn't get the nomination. If DEan could beat Bush, anyone could and we should go for the best candidate.

11. anything this good cannot ever be considered a 'lost cause'
at the very least, if not elected to run in the general, Dennis Kucinich and his supporters (us!) could easily have an influence on the party's platform...

i sit and dream of DK showing up strongly in the final numbers in either iowa, vermont or on feb. 3rd...and the media, being tired of the same old stories, will suddenly be producing bits on Dennis Kucinich, and why there is a groundswell for this candidate, seemingly out of nowhere, and what this says about how america feels about 'politics as usual'...thus ending what i percieve to be tantamount to a media-blackout re: Dennis Kucinich's candidacy

hey this kid is a dreamer

13. You GO, Pat!
Welcome to DU (since this is the first time I've noticed your presence), and welcome to the Kucinich effort!

Please, please, PLEASE sign up to volunteer at www.kucinich.us and then find your State contact person to offer whatever you can in the way of help. Also drop by here http://us.denniskucinich.us/phpBB2 for some support and to offer suggestions, discuss issues and responses, etc.

BTW, Nader wasn't someone I paid a lot of attention to as a candidate before, but these days, I regret that lack of knowledge. He's an amazingly astute, intelligent and just plain gutsy man! Kudos to you for beating me to where I am today.

Very happy to have another idealist. It is so very nice to have a candidate you can trust and rely on. I never have a moments worry that he will quickly change a position or say something stupid. It is a joy to be a part of this movement. May we grow and grow.

with them. Amy and Jonathan stayed at my house. We had a small party for them. They are the most dear, committed people I have ever met and I feel so very fortunate to have given them food and a place to rest. They are truly amazing.

We hosted them here, too. Neat, dedicated folks! As long as you're arranging for the library, be sure to give them a chance to get online for a while. Turn out a crowd if you can, too. If you can't, get some media coverage for sure.

That's a pretty standard position with Dennis' supporters; voting from the heart. Voting for the vision we have of what America can be; opening the door to the best possibilities.

26. Kucinich knows this is a fight for the soul of the Democratic Party
The best we can do is to vote our hearts all the way through this nomination process.

27. This is what democracy is all about, we support different people, but I'm
glad you came to your decision the way you did. I also like to read the personal testimonials, no matter who for ( well I wouldn't like to read on for Bush, but that's unlikely here ) Bravo, nice post
