ABC morning news on Cheney: "A father's evolution"
the anchor (Charlie?) and the correspondent performed a two-part skit on this touching story of a father and his daughter.

A paraphrased excerpt:

Charlie: Some fringe lefty conspiracy theorist Bush-bashers might say that Mr. Cheney is not entirely sincere. Exactly how ridiculous is that?

Correspondent: Oh, my, that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Why, Mr. Cheney himself says he's completely sincere.

3. Death to media traitors.
Oh,no, none of these bastards are hypocrites.

While cheneyburton is "supporting" his daughter, his crime organization is demonizing her and those of her orientation for cynical political gain.

being assigned the herculean task of making the snearing, snarling, evil, nasty SOB appear human. Everyone in the studio knows it's a crock of shit but hey, a paycheck is a paycheck.

5. If Cheney is sincere, he should resign from the Republican party.
Not that we democrats want him, but if your party is drafting a platform to institutionalize discrimination against your child, how can you possibly be sincere and still be part of the party?

6. couple of points
1. this is good because the really rabid right with rabies is still outraged that Cheney even has a personal view that differs, even though he has said that he will follow the president's policy on the matter regardless. I heard one interviewee just spew disgust at Cheney for daring to have a personal view.

2. The question that NEEDS TO BE ASKED of all "states rights" supports, of John Kerry too, is this:

So you are saying it's okay to discriminate, just so long as it takes place at the state level?

9. I think Cheney is "sincere"...
He is demonstrating the typical Republican behaviors of

1. "I have no empathy. Something is not a problem unless it affects me or my family/close friends. In this case, my daughter is adversely affected by a conservative stance, so I take the liberal stance. However, if my daughter had not been so affected, I would take the conservative stance. The problem is that I am a policymaker, and a good policymaker thinks beyond his/her own little world, but I can't."

2. "I do not understand the concept of hypocrisy or why it is a bad thing."

10. Wow, that's just how they treated the Clintons
You know, when Bill and Hillary still professed their love for one another after the Lewinsky affair broke? ALL the media folks rushed in front of the cameras to proclaim that the Clintons were sincere, and anyone who said different was ridiculous.

Ah yes, I remember it well.

11. Does anybody else see this as the first rip...
in the unraveling of ties that Cheney has with Bush, so that just in time for next week, he can step down from the ticket, to spend more time with his family of course, so that Bush can replace him as running mate with Gulliani, or by reckoning of the Senator's behavior lately, McCain?

Or am I a tin hatter now?

I think it's too late for them to pull a VP switch.

Then again, you never know. These Rockaway trouts are capable of ANYTHING.

(On edit: Before anyone asks, a Rockaway trout is a New York term that refers to a used, floating, condum.)
