Poll question: Worst case scenario: Could electronic voting cost Kerry your state
With electronic voting, it doesn't matter who wins but who programs the computers. With the electronic voting in critical California counties, there is a risk of the results saying Bush won - even if Kerry landslides. How at risk is your state? Vote in the poll and then list any states you feel we may lose through electronic voting - even if Kerry is ahead in those states.

1. Florida is as equally divided as in 2000
And at 27 electoral votes, still the biggest prize of all the undecided states.

"Unbiased Jeb" is running the state. Dubya* is counting on whatever electronic advantage he can get to not have to be known as Dubya**.

Vote manipulation will most likely be a reality in Florida.

Do your part to repeal George W. Bush and his corrupt associates.

The failure to stop terrorist acts and the failure to hold fair and timely elections is a failure of democracy.

2. Show me a state that doesn't use programmable electronic voting machines
Even if you have a paper trail, there's no guarantee it will ever be used. Even if the paper trail is used, there's no guarantee a recount wouldn't be done by machines. See? The system's game-able all the way around.

For instance, Oregon is an interesting case. We ALL vote by absentee ballot here and this obviously leaves a paper trail. However, those absentee ballots are machine-counted (GEMS, of course). If the margin of victory is set wide enough, no manual recount would be triggered.

Anything that can be programmed to give a result can be programmed to deliver a phoney result.

3. 80% of all votes can be manipulated nationwide.
That is how many votes ES&S and Diebold control.

4. Other - my state is so blue it would be too obvious to rig it
I live in NY I vote in CT, either way there is no chance he could get away with trying either.

5. It Would be EXTREMELY Suspect if Boooosh "Won" California
and the planned cover story of a massive groundswell of homophobes for Boosh
won't really wash here either.

It is still technically possible, especially now that they seem to have
gotten to Shelley and he's caved in on the touchscreens. Diebold controls
enough of the vote to throw even this state to Bush*.
Many votes are optically-scanned paper ballots, but AFAIK
a "recount" just runs those ballots through the Diebold scanners again.
The law does not permit a hand recount.

They can steal our votes if they are brazen enough (a quality of this
regime that we have all learned never to underestimate!)
They could steal it right under the noses of all our poll-watchers,
because they cannot watch what goes on inside the machinez.
Then they would use the very presence of our poll-watchers to try
to reinforce the legitimacy of the results.
