Enough Already: We need an OFFENSIVE strategy

No Way to Run a Campaign

If it seems to you like every day something new and damaging to the Kerry Campaign pops up - it's because literally almost every day something damaging to the campaign has popped up.

Let's take a look at the month of August to illustrate how the Kerry Campaign has truly been the gang that couldn't shoot straight. (How come nobody has been fired for this epic bumbling?)

Aug. 1 - Normally a candidate gets a "bounce" in the polls immediately after his convention - not so for Kerry.

Aug. 2 - Kerry advisor says Kerry will make world safer by giving Iran nuclear fuel and hope that they use it for good. Sane people everywhere say, "Are you friggin' kidding me?" Meanwhile the Kerry campaign suffers some guilt from association after Howard Dean questions the timing of terror alerts in New York - claiming they could be politically motivated. Again, sane people everywhere ask, "Are you friggin' kidding me?"

Aug. 3 - Swift Boat Veterans for Truth explain their version of the real story of John Kerry's military history - this picture was interesting

Aug. 4 - The Kerry campaign and DNC lawyers threaten legal action against any stations that air the Swift Boat ads. Instead of addressing the allegations made by the vets - Kerry decides that threat of legal action would be better. The campaign slogan is officially amended to "Bring it on.....and we'll sue!" Meanwhile Senator Kerry announces:

I believe I can fight a more effective, more thoughtful, more strategic, more proactive, more sensitive war on terror that reaches out to other nations and brings them to our side and lives up to American values in history.

1. Yawn.
Your armchair quarterbacking is not impressive. I think the reason the campaign hasn't asked you for advice is that in reality, you have zero experience at running a political campaign -- was my guess right?

Normally a candidate gets a "bounce" in the polls immediately after his convention - not so for Kerry.

Factually incorrect. And everything else you wrote is pure BS as well.

3. Kerry got a bump from the convention
Also, where have you been? The Kerry campaign has been agressively repudiating the content of the ads for some time.

4. Aw, you know better than that, Lancdem.
If Kerry were ahead & if he had turned back all those Smearboat lies, then Rimjob would have told Tarheel about it.

5. Anyone who thinks Kerry's running a bad strategy doesn't remember Gore.
Now THAT was a bad strategy.

Kerry's running a very smart strategy.

He's got the slow burn down. He has some real weaknesses which he has totally covered and I can't imagine Bush exploiting at this point. He has made several VERY smart moves which are setting him up for a victory.

He's not out of the woods, but anyone who thinks that he hasn't made brilliant moves so far has a very short memory (and, perhaps, an agenda).

6. YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT
If Kerry-Edwards don't take the fight and ram it down Bush's throat or some other part of his anatomy, they will continue to be the Bushbot punching bag until they lose the election.

7. i don't think Howard Deans comments hurt Kerry...
I think alot of america questioned the motives of the terror alerts, he just voiced what alot of people were already wondering...the only people he pissed off were bush supporters, and they can all go to hell anyway

8. None of these have any bearing on Kerry's not being up 10 at ALL
In fact, Kerry's campaign, except for the still-wobbly surrogate and message operation, has been improving recently--especially vis a vis the arrogance perceived by many groups of block voters and the risk-averseness of the response operation.

9. You're One Month Behind, One Month Ahead
We're in the trenches now, dude. This is where we're taking the big shots from the Repugnican slime machine as they have 70 million unspent dollars that are being spread around like butter.

It's buying Slimeboat veterans, it's buying reporters, it's buying tons of commercials on friendly broadcast outlets, it's buying public opinion wherever it can to destroy Kerry and create popularity for their manchild. The hopes were for this to be done by the convention...and the jury's out if that's happening.

This campaign has gone from the questions of if Bunnypants has done a good job (job approval polls say No), a first look at Kerry and if he's "presidential" (first polls...screw the convention...say yes) and now it's it's back on Bunnypants...the fundamental question of "should he be elected"? This question will be answered at the GOOPfest next week by those who are fence sitting...then the last question goes into play..."whose the best choice"...

Kerry has to act and re-act where appropriate. In the primaries, he could be on the attack more as he was removed from real accountability and he was just one of many. Since then, this regime has focused it's slime guns full bore on the guy and he's had to stand up to the slime and look both strong and above it. But only to a point. That point has now been reached.

The object here is not just to discredit the Slimeboat assholes, it's to turn the tables from questioning Kerry's character and integrity to that of this regime's. This required a measured and methodical approach that now appears to be putting Bunnypants on the defensive.

This is a marathon, we have 2 very, very long months ahead and I really like the positioning of this campaign and the strength and momentum it's building.

Civility, unfortunately has to take a backseat to come "whoop ass" right now, in hopes this starts the beginning of the end of this regime, the strong influence of the right wing on the media and then the Repugnican party.

11. Kerry DID get a post-convention bounce
Edited on Wed Aug-25-04 10:50 AM by rocknation
The mainstream media simply dragged their feet about admitting it.
