Edited on Mon Jan-05-04 05:28 PM by bearfartinthewoods
a full half of the people in the country would no longer pay income tax. he didn't contest that statement. since I, earning <30.000 but no kids, will be in the half that pays while someone earning 90,000 dollars won't have to, i have to say what the fuck??

someone tell me how this is progressive?

26. i didn't read his whole plan
but it says that families of four making up to 50,000 dollars will pay no taxes and all taxpaying families with children making up to 100,000 will get a tax cut. No person without kids making 90,000 will get out of paying, and families making that much with kids will get a tax cut.

I think his plan is very progressive and fair. I am also making less than 30K a year with no kids and I don't see what's wrong with it. He's designing his plan so that the tax obligation is lessened on families, so they can better provide for the children. And he's not going to raise taxes on you and I, our tax rate is going to stay the same, but people making more than 1M in income will pay 5% on all income after the first million.

If you believe in taxing people based on what they can afford to give, then of course people with children should give less than bachelors.

27. Makes sense
"If you believe in taxing people based on what they can afford to give, then of course people with children should give less than bachelors."

Thus the concept of dependents.

3. Last time he was on Faux, he got into it...
with one of their RW anchors about his statement that Iraq was a "sideshow". Clark would not allow the anchor to misrepresent his statement. He kept saying, "No sir!". It was awesome.

5. They said that..
Iowa voters have been calling the Kerry campaign asking if Kerry's prostate cancer is back, because they say Dean supporters have been spreading that idea around.

6. Heather Nauert pretending to be a reporter
is treating Clark like crap, twisting his words and interrupting him.

She's being a real jerk and typical GOP operative.

She made an objection to 50% of Americans not paying for the war. He strongly disagreed. Poorer Americans are paying with their sons' and daughters' lives in the armed services.

10. Eeeewwww I don't like this little faux bunny
Cute but don't like her.

She's got her RW talking points on that little card. Asked if it was a good idea that some Americans under his tax plan wouldn't be paying for the war. Clark retorted that many soldiers come from families such as these. (for a minute shades of smackdown, but Clark was more cool this time).

14. I never watch Fox...won't turn it on
but I read the post and quickly turned it on. Watched Clark do a great job, but I can't believe that passes for a journalist or a reporter. She was more like an advocate for "the other side"

Creepy.

28. His reply about the working class already contributing
was GREAT! Had us cheering in my home. Was in reply to the FOX claim that half of tax payers won't be doing their share to carry the cost of government under Clark's new tax plan. Clark started slow and picked up steam until he was a steam roller. Started out by pointing out that poor in this country pay Payroll tax, pay Sales Tax, contribute to supporting Medicaid etc. Then he pointed out that the Feds under the current Administration are using those payroll taxes to bankroll the government by diverting money from Social Security toward the general budget. Then the climax.

He said working class Americans are disproportionately represented in our Armed Forces. They are the people who are sacrificing their lives in Americas Wars. They are the ones who send off their sons and daughters to fight for this country, not the wealthy. They are already giving more than their share to and for this country.

The Fox woman lost her smug look and quickly blurted something about how Clark must know that people in other income groups are giving to this country in different ways also, then she changed the subject.

It was priceless people. Clark ended his appearance with his classic smile right at her.

22. The Fox bunny gets slapped by the anchor too
After Clark signed off, she said "Another component of the Clark tax plan is that the government would determine you tax status and deduct the amount from your paycheck. (Turning to the anchor) I don't know if I trust the government with that."

To which the nice hair anchor said "Don't they already do that?" I think he meant it as a slap to Clark, but he ended up slapping the Fox bunny. Which I have wanted to do a time or two myself.
