CNN reports White House admits this was a bad day for them
Edited on Wed Aug-25-04 05:23 PM by demdem
Thank You Max and Jim.

Max Cleland and James Rassmann showed up in Crawford today with a letter telling pig vomit to stop these ads. Before that Ben Ginsburg who works for Bush had to resign because he was also working for the not so swift vets.

5. Bush hasn't been seen since yesterday
Not one single pic of him from today on Yahoo. That is rare.

It's amazing that a man with only one limb, could send them all into deep cover.

17. Probably under lock and key for going off message with his...
... "that ad" comment. He sinned and acknowledged "that ad" as a distinct entity, rather than sticking to the gameplan of broadly categorizing all 527s as evil.

18. This has been a fantastic day for us. Bush has been upended
(temporarily at least) by Kerry's bold move of taking this fight right to his doorstep. This is priceless (and not to mention hilarious) to watch.

If Bush was a real leader, he would have sent Laura to the gate to greet Max and Jim, offered them some lemonade to comfort them in the miserable Texas heat and welcomed them to meet the Dim Son. After the 'meeting' they could have come out together and 'agreed to disagree' and Max and Jim would have accomplished their mission and Bush would have at least looked as though he had some strength of character. Now he looks like a small, petty, thinskinned man who always sends others to fight his battles and do his dirty work.

Max, Jim and JK, on the other hand, look 10 feet tall.

Maybe if there are enough people who show up like Max Cleland and James Rassmann, then dubya will have to find a new place to vacation.

14. What would have happened if
Bush had walked out, extended a hand to Cleland and accepted the letter? He could have then stolen the spotlight, said he wanted to take the opportunity to clarify that when he said "that ad" he meant he condemned that ad, and come out looking like the good guy to the undecided. Instead he ended up looking like...well, what he looked like.

16. They don't have the imagination.
All they can think of is their tired narrow view of family values, use the fire-fighter's images, and don't change horsemen in the middle of an apocalypse. When that doesn't work, it devolves to smears and dirty tricks.

21. That's assuming...
that the hand Bush extended would have been the one to use in order to shake Cleland's missing arm. It certainly sounds like something Mr. Diplomacy himself might do... then we'd be left to wonder whether he was just ignorant or whether he did it on purpose, just like so much else he does.

Kind of explains why they trotted Karl Rove out to FOX.

And don't think for one minute that the interview wasn't set up as a panic response.

Edited on Wed Aug-25-04 05:46 PM by Marianne
He is the self appointed war president and no one can take that away from him-(in his mind)-it is his sadistic ego identity for I believe that he enjoys this control over life and death in some sort of sick delusional sadistic fantasy and no one dare tell him he is a sick bastard.

That is proving to be his downfall. This sick personality who has driven this country into chaos with his murderous war in Iraq, was correctly interpreted by the Kerry team, and it was brilliant. Now we have great footage to use against this cowardly prick.

He is classless, a cheap bully and this incident will and should be seized upon by Kerry to facilitate his downfall and I think it will.

26. Here's What's Really Making Bush Have a "Bad Day"
Abu Ghraib Report Reveals Military Intelligence WAS Involved in Abu Ghraib torture and sexual abuse of prisoners...after denials by the Pentagon and White House spokepersons. The original white wash by the white house that the scandal was confined to only a few (six at the most) wayward soldiers, has been contradicted.

Folks, Abu Ghraib reaches right to Donald Rumsfeld's office.

30. I love Radio Canada International
They just drop the pretense and state the Swift Boat Veterans commercials were done by the Bush Administration.

Another Canadian was arguing against the Bush Administration trying to get Canada to join in on the Missile Shield Program, and finished by stating that Canada should no join the "Coalition of the Idiotic"

I just love our neighbors to the north.
