RNC getting more protection than the DNC?
I was watching the news earlier and they did a report on the preparations of the RNC. They showed helicopters, cops in bulletproof vests, a center where agencies from all over will be ready for anything and some of the cops will even have cameras in their helmets which are wired to the center.

I know I heard them mention that there will be approx. 10,000 cops on duty in NYC. They are also expecting upwards of 250,000 protesters to converge on the city.

From what I remember of the DNC it didn't seem like they went to this much trouble to protect the convention. I know there was quite a bit, but this much??

And another thing this report mentioned was that it implied that they are expecting a terrorist attack.

Thoughts anyone?

Cyn:)

1. They are expecting a lot of ticked off New Yorkers
and, frankly, I think they fear them more than any 'terrorist' threat.

3. The DNC did not need much protection. We're the good guys.

4. (Zipping into flameproof suit)
He is the pResident of the United States, even if we hate it and he shouldn't be. The terraists aren't the only ones who have a bone to pick with him.

Do you think the terraists are versed in the finer points of a representative democracy? I don't.

May my chosen spiritual divinity forgive me, I'm defending Bunnypants.

5. We didn't need near as much.
the worst thing that happened was the anarchists/others cut through the barb wire fence on Thursday and wreaked havoc around town for a couple of hours. Nothing damaged and nobody hurt.

However, the GOP convention is another story. The GOP convention next week is shaping up to be a rerun of the 1968 Chicago Democratic Convention.
