TIME MAG: IT'S MITT
Source: Time Magazine and Huffington Post

AUG 21 -- Halperin: McCain Settles On Romney: TIME's Mark Halperin cites two unnamed Republican sources saying that McCain has settled on Romney as his VP nominee:

Two Republicans who know say McCain has settled on Mitt Romney as his running mate.

Developing...

Meanwhile: If you are the wagering type, bet on Obama announcing Joe Biden as his running mate on Saturday.

43. Me too! Go Mitt!
Not only will the lifelong hunter and dogstrapper Romney provide endless new sources of humor, his vapidity and total emptiness will be on full public display for all to see. Mitt is a zero.

A geezer and a fool. The perfect Republican team!

6. Let's see, once Mittens is appointed McCain's running mate, McCain
steps down for health reasons, or if he's unwilling, meets with an unfortunate accident. Then Mitt is the Republican candidate for President. Any one want to wager on this bait and switch?

Seriously, Mitt's even more prone to gaffes than McCain. He's the greasiest politician in history and the best part is that everyone can see right through it.

If you look like a rich gringo you run into a LOT more trouble than if you ride in simple street clothing and your stuff looks like you're taking it to the dump.

This is true for me on both counts......

65. If this turns out to be true, the risk/reward factor is huge.
Edited on Fri Aug-22-08 08:50 AM by ryanmuegge
They run the risk that both of their UNBELIEVABLE and blatant flip-flops will come back to bite them. Romney may alienate the Tali-Christian nuts because of his stance on guns and abortion (whatever that position is this hour). He's also a Mormon, which is considered a cult in the worst sense of the word by many Tali-Christians.

However, Romney has credibility on the economy. Of course, it's bullshit in reality; undoubtedly a myth created by the corporate media. He hasn't accomplished a goddamn thing other than being born rich and giving companies the obvious advice: send as many jobs as possible overseas. Of course big media, whose programming only appeals to the rich investor class is saying he's good for the economy because he wants to fuck the poor a little harder and deeper; that's their only criteria for economic strength - further impoverishing and stretching people who are already pressed to their limits. He "fixed" the Olympics. Big fucking deal. That isn't shit, and everybody knows it. Regardless of substance (and there isn't a shred of it), it's a firmly established bit of "conventional wisdom" that Romney has "strength" on the economy, which was a big issue before McCain changed the focus to lame-ass, fabricated Vietnam melodrama (you got treated better than everybody else there because you sold out fast and your dad was an Admiral, and it's been over thirty years, so get over it, pussy).

Romney also might fuck with our chances in Michigan, which was looking like a sure-fire win for us before this decision. Iowa could be questionable now. The reason I say that is because Nauvoo is right on the border of Illinois and Iowa, and a lot of those crazy fucking Mormon douchebags live across the Mississippi in Iowa. That not be enough to turn the state, but it may tighten things up.

The idea of McCain winning the election scares the living hell out of me.

69. Mormon Mitt and his fake tan, McCain and his senility
Edited on Fri Aug-22-08 08:59 AM by davidpdx
Could the Republicans have put up two worse guys? Out of touch with reality and beholden to special interests the John and Mitt show is going to be a wild ride.

73. One of my favorite stories about Romney:
He had been criticized in internal focus groups and polling for looking so perfect that he came off as artificial. To counteract these "viscous" (more like "vicsiously true") rumors, before a debate, he had his hair stylist intentionally leave a couple hairs out of place, letting them dangle over his forehead from his trademark "wind-tunnel-proof" part. No joke.

What a fucking joke this guy is.
