Interesting EV.com map today - 269-269 if ties go to McSame
What would happen here? An extra scenario that would favor us because of Congress?

2. Obama would win. The House would elect on a straight vote.

6. It doesn't work that way
Each state delegation gets one vote.

12. Yes, and Obama would win there
It takes 26 votes in the House to win. Obama would currently win by 2.

3. Each of the Several States delegations to the House gets one vote
Edited on Fri Aug-22-08 02:46 PM by Bok_Tukalo
Obama wins (if the delegations do not change much due to the 2008 congressional elections).

Senate picks the VP.

Edit: This assumes that there are no faithless Electors

11. No, I'm afraid we'd lose. Each state gets one vote. There are more red states, they're just small.

13. Are you sure we would lose?
I knew it would be thrown into the House, but wasn't sure how they would proceed.

14. I was just reminded that each STATE gets one vote, not each Rep.
So it looks like we'd lose.

7. Interesting
But it's hard to see happening. McCain needs to win approximately 68% of the remaining electoral votes to become POTUS but Obama only needs approximately 43% of the remaining electoral votes to win (based on CNN's EV map). McCain would really need to get on some kind of roll to make his victory a reality let alone a tie. But I believe that the election would be thrown into the HOR if there is a tie.

9. Same as 2004 only McCain takes NH and Obama takes IA, NM and CO
269-269

Not that far fetched a scenario
