I have a theory: Announcement at 9 Central time.

Why?

Lots of people think it has to fit into the evening news cycle. But that kind of defeats the purpose of the Obama 'text the message direct to the people' system.

To reinforce the value of signing up to get the text message it should/could be delivered at a time that's far from the the news cycle.

If it came now everyone would just run to the TV. But if it comes later it could be viewed more as a direct and personal communication with the campaign. If it come later you will discuss it with your friends and not just let some talking heads tell you what to think.

So... move it away from the news cycle... put it Friday night.. club and movie time. Party time.

Just when everyone thinks it won't come.

In a bar somewhere that's full of young Obama supporters around midnight tonight when all of a sudden the cell phones and iPhones and text messages start popping? How exciting.

(Disclaimer: as an "old" Obama supporter I'd be home watching TV in bed.)
