I'm so pissed at Obama. He should have texted me at the time I assumed he was going to!

True, yesterday he refused to give a time or date (http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/nation/politics/bal-obama0821,0,4503728.story), but I really, really, really made myself believe it was 11:03 am EST today.

In refusing to text me at that time, Obama probably losy almost all of his voters and the media is going to be super-duper-extra mean to him! Also, I'm outraged for some reason about the way he's treating Hillary Clinton, but I don't really have the details of that yet.

Great job giving the election to McCain, Barack!

3. All this mockery overlooks a basic detail.
Perception is all that matters. If people are annoyed or feel this has all become juvenile, the mockery won't change any minds. The media will begin to mock, too, especially if the choice is Biden, since that will be anti-climactic. Plus, the media will feel that they were being toyed with. Whether it was Obama's intention to make people think it would be today or not, he stumbled a little by not cashing in on the greatest level of enthusiasm.

No, it won't cost him the election, but it could steal a little of the impact of his choice, and be a little anti-climactic heading into the convention. If he announces on a Saturday, many won't hear it, so they'll find out later in a headline or overhearing a conversation. He had an audience Friday, and so far he's left that audience dangling. It's like a movie that lasts a little too long. If the payoff is worth it, maybe the whole thing will work. If not... He just missed an opportunity. And maybe seemed a little too flippant, and maybe annoyed the media. And that will all play into McCain's attempts to make him seem less serious-minded, with his attacks on inexperience and celebrity.

Just my thoughts. They'll be unpopular around here. But not everyone who offers critical advice is an enemy, and not everyone who cheers with blind loyalty is helpful. And most of all, in an election, people's opinions matter. So that's mine.

5. Wasted Days
I even took off from work today to be sure I could get my text message and then go out and celebrate. What a let down. We get the unofficial announcement from Michael Regan. Great.

Why couldn't Obama send it out early like he promised? How the heck did he expect to get Biden from Delaware to Chicago without anyone noticing.
