McCain's Repuke Convention doomed
Why?

1. Convention starts on Labor day evening. Notorious for people traveling home from a three day weekend and much lower overall TV audiences.

2.Couple that with a major hurricane hitting the US coastline.

3. Back to work/back to school for millions week.

4. The NFL regular season kicks off next Thursday night during his speech.

14. We have to give some credit to Howard Dean
Edited on Wed Aug-27-08 11:29 PM by Growler
He intentionally set the Dem convention late in August to box the Repukes in: they had to go after the us, but not so late that McCain couldn't spend his GE money effectively.....

I know I would if I were them.

16. Feel good??!! They don't care about feel good...
They're going to spend the entire 4 days carving up Obama. Bet on it. There won't be any ideas. Or vision for the direction they want to take the country. It will be a non-stop, wall-to-wall Obama bashing of the first degree.

17. The MSM will rerun it day and night like they do McWorse's negative ads
for free. The MSM will figure something out. Minimum of hurricane coverage so noone has memeories of Katrina/lil bush&McWorse partying together, so on and so forth like that.

19. If Gustav hits the Louisiana area, the juxtaposition
is only going to remind the entire country of Repuke incompetence, big time.

Given this week and the likelihoods of weather, this is going to be a very, very bad week for the Repukes.

21. Given that their speakers are Smush and the Dick
I would guess that they are not terribly keen on lots of coverage.

Anyway, what better to draw that contrast between Barack the popular and McCain the POW!!!!!!! than a huge convention vs one that isn't even newsworthy, that not even the repubs want to show up to?

26. Not only is it the NFL kickoff
But it is the Super Bowl Champs NY Giants versus the Washington Redskins. FYI...most of the state of Virginia, a battleground state, are Redskins fans. Seems like a boneheaded move.
