McCain's VP pick shows his reckless, impulsive, narcissism.
This one thing, this one decision, speaks volumes about what is wrong with McCain.

Mainstream Media are largely ignoring this real story of McCain's pick. Virtually all commentators from anywhere on the political spectrum agree on this one point when talking about Vice President picks: he or she has to be ready to step into the job of being president. By any reasonable standard, Governor Palin is nowhere close to that.

Media are also ignoring how McCain's impulsive decision to swing for the fences and choose Palin left several camps of VP possibilities feeling duped. What do Romney, Huckabee, Pawlenty, Lieberman, Ridge, and others think about this pick? What does the Republican establishment think about this pick, so obviously designed to be the "fundie" on the ticket fundies want, while making a strained appeal to women not otherwise inclined to vote Republican?

McCain's pick is anything but country first. It's John the Crazy Egotist First. This guy is completely delusional. He has never been part of winning any war, but will tell you that he knows how to win wars. He might as well say he knows how to train tigers, or do magic, or sing like John Lennon.

More and more, McCain is proving he's even more dangerous than Bush. McCain is compulsive about the notion he can win wars, and that means he will start wars to prove he can win them. His choice of a totally unqualified VP nominee, so purely a gimmick, a gambit for votes, should signal all reasonable commentators that his judgment is unsound and cannot be trusted.

Donations are pouring in to the Republican’s campaign since Friday morning’s announcement. Social and religious conservatives have been particularly energized by the VP pick.

4. It'll be interesting to see how much the fundies come up with.
She is one of theirs in a way no candidate for president or VP have ever been. She actually goes to a fundie church, not one those standard churches like Bush had, but a real, live, rightwing fundie church. Since she is one of theirs, they will accept her, no matter what stories come out about her.

5. I suppose it's possible, but I don't see that happening.
I'm concerned about them stealing it, but not winning it.

3. Agreed, all good points..
I knew it was a media Fix when 5 minutes after verifying it CNN bantered back and forth continuously, "Of course NO ONE Votes based on the VP, the proof of that is Dukkakis, and his choice of Benson.."

Must have said it twenty times, patting each other on the back knowing Rove was writing a check for each time they said it..

Before Biden it was the most Important choice a candidate could make.. The two faced lying bastards! And Wolfie was nay saying the whole way, the Fix was IN..

13. McCain the "maverick" admitted in interview with Chris Wallace that he had to get Cindy's approval.
Sorry, no transcript up yet; but it was Faux News Sunday with Chris Wallace. Said McCain first met Palin at the governor's meeting, met with her last Sunday and spoke to her once on the phone. But they also said that Cindy had met with her, and when asked if his wife had to okay the selection, he laughingly said yes. Maybe just kidding, but considering he had very little contact with Palin and Cindy met with her, it would seem as though she had a great deal of input. At any rate, that bit of video would make a great ad to spotlight McCain's "selection" process.

I'm in complete agreement with your excellent post, this reveals a lot about the real McCain.
