Bill O'Reilly on Sarah Palin
I have been listening to Billo on my way home since I gave up my satellite radio. And he had some interesting things to say today about Palin.

When I turned him on, he was saying he would not accept any more calls from anyone who wanted to talk about Palin's experience or her daughter's pregnancy. He said the experience argument had been debated to death and no one was going to change their mind based on what any one caller to his show said.

As for the daughter's pregnancy, he said he thought Obama's comments yesterday were great, we should all leave that story alone, and it also had been talked to death.

But what I found most interesting was Billo said that Palin's candidacy was weak and one more thing would destroy it. He said her survival would depend on her speech tomorrow night. That speech will make or break her. If she is charming and charismatic, if she gives a good speech and the "crazies" from the left continued to attack her, then moms across the country will rise up to defend her. But if she gives a bad speech and doesn't win over the hearts and minds of Americans, no one will care if she is attacked.

Then Dick Morris called in (I know, I can't stand him either) and he said basically the same thing, that Palin's survival was all dependent on her speech at the RNC tomorrow night.

So it's all about her image and her speech. No he said not one word about issues or her stance on them.

Interesting, eh?

9. My thoughts exactly
I found it very interesting that he not only said he wouldn't take any more calls about experience (the big issue, IMO) but didn't once mention her stance on any issues (at least not while I was tuned in).

3. A convention speech is just part of it

If she gets out there tomorrow and delivers a killer speech it means nothing...she's still anti choice in ALL cases, a theocratic zealot, is hostile toward the science and environment, has abused her power, and has ties to states rights groups. She's bad for America even if she gets out there tomorrow night and juggles knives while giving her speech.

6. That is their plan. They intend to totally ignore the issues. They know
they lose on the issues and they are outright stating it now:

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/2008/09/mccain_manager_this_election_i.html

"Rick Davis, campaign manager for John McCain's presidential bid, insisted that the presidential race will be decided more over personalities than issues during an interview with Post editors this morning.

"This election is not about issues," said Davis. "This election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates."

13. one speech might stem the tide
But she has too much going against her right now, no way could she hold it off for the next few months. She has nearly imploded McCain's campaign in just a 4 1/2 days, and she got great coverage the 2-3 days. It took about 1 day of scrutiny and everything went unhinged.

20. They're trying to salvage her with a speech
If she doesn't fall off the stage, they'll claim it was the greatest oratory since the Gettysburg Address.

Don't pay attention.

21. Have you heard her voice?
Not only does she talk like a backwoods valley girl, her shrill stratospheric, fingernails on a blackboard voice will induce blood loss via the ear canal in as little as 15 minutes. No matter what she says at this point - its possible it will be a direct contradiction to some earlier phase of her life. The republicans can call her speech what they like - the American people will have the final vote on Sarah Barracuda.

23. Misdirection play...
If she's still around in time to give the speech, she's on the ticket for good. The Republicans aren't going to give prime air time to a candidate who they then will dump.

If SP isn't gone by this time tomorrow, get used to her being the Republican nominee, period.

25. I read she may not speak tomorrow, may be pushed off to Thurs
I know it sounds kind of crazy to have both Palin & McCain speak on the same night, but with the clusterfuck of a convention they have so far it wouldn't be too surprising.
