So Biden thinks someone else should have been picked?
Is this really a helpful comment for Obama's campaign?

Many felt that Biden's comment was self-effacing, gracious, sure-footed.

I agree with them.

9. it's annoying to me that this is getting any play
for months, I have been reading about how Biden is so "cocky " and has jokingly said that he still "can't believe that someone else was going to be nominated, since he is the most qualified in the bunch". And when Biden was chosen, Chuck Todd was chuckling "har har har, one Republican just said to me that the ticket was 'the audacity of arrogance'". Then, as soon as he starts being self deprecating, it's "Oh, he's gone too far? Is he sending us a signal?!" Biden has been great, and furthermore, he EARNED it through being a terrific surrogate for Obama on the talk show circuit months before he was being considered.

aside so that Gordon Lightfoot could have the job.

For what it's worth, I was for Gordon Lightfoot all along.

Canadian you say? I don't have a problem with Canadians to begin with, and besides, McCain was born in Panama.

25. You think that modesty was false?!
Biden has nothing but love and respect for Senator Clinton.

People forget that in the heat of the primaries, when tensions were very high between HRC and BHO, it was Biden who sat with Hillary during the State of the Union. IMHO it was a kind gesture and show of support for a friend.

People constantly get on Biden's case and ride his ass because they think he's TOO honest. You're saying he's portraying false modesty. Which is it? Because it can't be both.

28. Yes, I do think the modesty was false.
No one would argue that Joe Biden doesn't believe in himself, or that he doesn't have a pretty big ego.

He's friends with Clinton. That doesn't mean he thinks she'd make a better VP.

It was a lame attempt to appeal to Clinton's supporters, and, perhaps, women in general. It came off as a little bit phony, IMO.

to a statement from someone in the crowd who mocked Sen Clinton and I believe Joe as always handled it brilliantly....I mean seriously what is your point in this thread when it's obvious you could easily answer your own question and YES it was more than helpful to the campaign as I am sure you are well aware of...your a great example of how the media works and thats not a compliment.

However, in Biden's defence, he was just trying to be gracious to Hillary Clinton and I don't think he really believes Hillary is more qualified to be VP, especially since Biden has more experience in elected office.

45. Biden has a habit of speaking carelessly. Remember how Biden said Obama was the first black ...
... politician who is "clean," "storybook," etc. Biden has a nasty habit of sticking both feet in his mouth at the same time. He also had to praise McCain and his "experience" in the debates. McCain is a fascist, right-wing asshole. I don't know how any Democrat could praise him.

...democratic board would be a little more familiar with Biden's personality. He is a charmer. Which makes him the perfect VP selection. And in not claiming he is the BEST PICK EVER...he is being humble. Another endearing quality.

We democrats know that any one of the dozens of choices for VP would have made excellent choices. Obama is a very intelligent man and picked not just the best person for he job, but someone who can compliment him. He and Clinton were actually very similiar in their views, so he wanted someone who could add a different perspective.

You know the bastards always pick up on some stupid shit and repeat it over and over until some new stupid shit comes up. I think if we win this election the first thing needs to be done is go in and break up the news media similar to back in the early 1900's when they broke up all the robber baron's monopolies. There is no way GE probably the biggest military contractor should own a TV network.
