Too bad Tim Russert isn't alive
As bad as he was sometimes he would have gotten the first interview based on his stature and while it wouldn't be as tough as I would hope. It would be a hell of alot better than Britt Hume's BFF Charlie doing the interview.

1. I think Tim would be the best, but I was pleasantly surprised with Gibson's performance.

4. True. The man could cut through bullshit better than anybody I've ever seen.
I may not have always agreed with him, but I did admire his skillz, lol.

8. Ever since Gregory became Karl Rove's dance partner he has been nothing more than
a right wing tool. His "interviews" are a disgrace.

9. Especially after today ... DancesWithRove has gone over the edge ...
He's a full-bore rightwing tool now. Not even
trying to mask his bias anymore ... Probably is
feeling empowered now that he's the "anchor guy"
for debate coverage and yet threatened by Keith/
Rachel's tag-teaming from the left ...

3. yeah.
This whole Palin media blackout has made me miss Tim Russert. He wasn't perfect and his "objectivity" rep was stretched to annoying heights after he passed, but he's SO much better than Tom Brokaw.

5. I thought the week long funeral like a head of state died
was much but its times like this you can appreciate someone who would have not been silent over a media blackout of a VP candidate who no-one heard of.

6. Palin would not have been picked as VP if he was alive.
McCain would have known that she could not survive.

Are they really good friends?

13. He never followed up his "tough" questions.
For all his fake "man of the people" act, he was as much a suck-up as anyone.

That's how he got to the top. If he had really been a "hackle-raiser" and "truth-teller", he would never have achieved his position.

Or is today "Naive Day" and no one told me?

17. The one reason I miss Russert, and I wasn't a real fan: I can see in >>>
>>> his absence now that he had some positive effect on the rest of the NBC news staff. Since he left most of the rest of them have seemed much more obviously in search of their ethical rudders.
