Screw the debate. Let the bastards hang.
So Boehner and McCain have a super-secret fantastic plan to save the economy, eh? Some shit they pulled out of their ass this afternoon, eh? Well I say screw trying to get this shit done in time for the debate. I say we sit back, let them bring their dumbass plan (which has ZERO support from the administration, the fed, or the Democrats) to the floor. Up or down vote. Force the Republicans to take a stand on this idiocy. (Hey, who wants to vote for decreased regulation in the midst of a financial crisis? Who's up for re-election right now?) Call their bluff. "OK, you got a plan? Let's see it. Let's vote on it ASAP"

Of course they don't actually have a plan. They don't have anything that anyone would actually support. They just have some shit they're using to gum up the works. Call them on it. Let it fail on a floor vote, then vote on the compromise plan. They created this mess. If they want to "fix" the economy their way, let them have at it. Somehow I suspect enthusiasm for their plan will be very minimal if it ever gets close to a vote. But I'd like to see their bluff called just the same.

As for the debate... This is better than a debate. Boehner could be wearing an "I'm with stupid" t-shirt right now for all the good this is doing them.

2. The bailout is going to pass one way or another.
The only question is whether their grandstanding on this idiotic "other" plan gets them any points. I'd like to see it lose them some points. Since they've already fucked this shit up and turned it into a circus, why not use it to our advantage?

3. Agreed. Start hearings on the GOP plan immediately.

Put off any bailout, and do not be rushed into passing it. The GOP is setting up Democrats. They will act as if they have a worthy plan, but Dems rushed to pass their bailouts. That must not be done.

If the DOW loses 500 points Friday and 1000 on Monday, so be it.

This is not a crisis at the level that has been purported. It's a 1987 disaster, not a 1929 disaster. We can live through it, and will live through it. Let the DOW lose 1500 points. THEN the public will develop a consensus. We are insane if we get out in front bailing out Wall Street interests.
