I've been saying this since he first chose her and everyone's pooh-poohed the idea. But now that you've seen the amazing turnabouts and twists and turns he's been willing to perform, coupled with Palin's PATHETIC beauty-pageant performance on Couric, what do you think now?

Chances that McCain will dump Palin before the election:

It was not for him to pick her, it's not up to him to dump her.

3. He's stuck with her.

1) It might be too late to change the name on the ballot in some states.

2) Replacing her would be an admission that his original decision was reckless -- which alone would be fatal to his chances.

3) Who is he going to get to replace her? Who wants to play runner-up to Sarah Palin and board McCain's sinking ship?

The PARTY picks the Veep after he nominates someone. They'd have to go back to Minneapolis and have a "do over" convention - he can't arbitrarily fire her because her legitimacy comes from the GOP, not McCain. The best he could do is ask her politely to leave - don't hold your breath though...

In short he's STUCK with her.
