Chris Rock on LKL - I'm sorry, but you're a hypocrite.
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 09:14 PM by Skip Intro

mccain/palin is a nightmare and I can't imagine not having a president elect Obama in just over a month, and yeah, I know Rock is a comedian, not a politician, but I gotta call out some hypocrisy here.

Just heard Chris say, in answer to a question from Larry about some people possibly not voting for Obama because of race, that he hoped former Hillary supporters would support Obama and not make this about race. That's a paraphrase, so I won't say how offensive it might seem to some to say that those who don't support Obama must be racist. My point here is, he just said it shouldn't be about race.

Chris, wtf did you mean here then? -

"Barack Obama stepped onto the Clintons' turf in the fight for the black vote last night, appearing at the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem, near the office President Clinton has worked in since he left the Oval Office.

Obama didn't speak much about the Clintons, but comedian Chris Rock did.

He told the audience they'd be "real embarrassed" if Obama won and they had been backing Clinton instead.

"You'd say, 'I had that white lady! What was I thinking," he said, according to the Associated Press.

2. Um how did "Harlem" get to be the "Clinton's turf"?
Just askin. I know he located an office there back when he was still trying to suck up to african american voters but I'd guess he doesn't put in a lot time there these days.

3. you are not being fair
His point was that the only possible reason Hillary supporters would not support Obama is because she is white and he is black. If they supported Hillary because of the issues they can't possibly be against Barack because of the issues.

Of course going to the Apollo theater is going for the black vote. Speaking in front of the Wailing Wall would be going for the Jewish vote. Going to NASCAR race is going for the middle class white vote.

That isn't racist, that is simply going to where the votes are.

4. It will be
Totally unfair of you to try to relate this comedian with Barack Obama, whom has tried the impossible and has walked pretty much ice, and has watched and thinks before opening his mouth to not be cast as an "angry black man". Obama has had to walk careful with his supporters, non-supporters and independents to be not be accused on unfair statements like these.

It is really tiring. I am exhausted and I am not Obama.
Given the man some credit. He deserves it. He is trying to save us from destruction.

5. I thought I made it clear I wasn't relating this to Obama. I'm taling about Chris Rock, not Obama.
I really thought I was clear.

6. Voting is a very personal thing and it's emotional.
Yes, there is a portion of the population who is racist, but most people who do not like Obama do so for various other reasons and do not give a rat's tail end whether he's black, white or purple. This constant mantra that whoever doesn't vote for Obama is a racist is just plain crap and it's offensive.

Rock was just on LKL, hence my remarks

And screw your "we" bullshit, like you are some campaign captain and I'm not a part of the effort because I happen to express an opinion about a fucking comic that you don't find acceptable

We, dude, is we, the people - you don't make the boundaries, or choose who is in or out.

There is a certain irony in diverting your attention to post that a thread is a diversion, wouldn't you say?

We have the same goal, Wolsh, but you can take your dismissive, "can't express a thought that's not approved by me" bullshit and sail it on down the line, buddy.
