PLEASE help me understand!!!!
1. Bush goes on TV and declares an economic emergency and proposes "clean" $700B bailout to keep the economy from total collapse
2. Dems respond with a more responsible counter-proposal which attempts to inject some accountability into the bailout with a smaller price tag
3. Repubs and McSame propose a counter-counter proposal that seeks tax breaks and more DE-REGULATION in other industries as a means of bailing us out of the current crisis
4. Public doesn't want a bailout
5. Bailout MAY hurt the economy. Bailout MAY help the economy (depending on what happens of course)
6. Doing nothing MAY hurt the economy further. Doing nothing MAY NOT hurt OR help the economy further.
7. McSame wants to "suspend" the campaign until SOMETHING passes.

So, politically, we are left with:
1. Dems kick any bailout proposals down the road until after the November elections or into next January. If things get worse, Repubs blame Dems for not doing anything=Repub win? If things get better despite the lack of a bailout, then..........???????
2. Dems try and get their proposal passed into law over objections/obstruction of Repubs=Repubs claim mantle of "party of people" since most people don't want a bailout=Repubs win?
3. McSame wants Repub proposal to pass. What happens if THAT passes?

Am I getting all of this straight? I'm totally confused about this whole mess. Is there any way that we can get out of this mess politically or are we even in a mess to begin with? How is this being framed? Who is winning the "spin" right now?

I'm having a brain "meltdown" right now trying to figure everything out!!!!

1. It's easy. (1) ITHASTOBEDONENOWNOWNOW!!!!
and (2) It has to be exactly as they say.

The final proof could come in the form of a mushroom cloud.

Oh wait - used that one.

We'll have a Depression by Monday.

There we go.

3. Seems like blame/blame or win/win to me.
My feeling is taht there's no certainty as to what will happen if something, or nothing, is done.
If a bill doesn't get passed, the parties blame each other.
If a bill gets passed, either side can claim success.

McCain has "got nothing" so he is desparate to get something passed to use in campaigning, in my opinion.

At least this is how my current thinking is. My brain hurts.

4. The market will basically affect the outcome tomorrow.
If the market hits the tank tomorrow, and it most certainly will, a solution will be clamored for and the Republicans will go along with it. John McCain and his obstructionist fucking ass will be left holding the bag. Add that to him not showing up for the debate tomorrow and he's severely fucked.
