CNN is unanimous: Palin has lost all of her confidence
So I would once again like to thank Tina Fey, whom I believe threw the first effective punch.

McCain is going to have to dump her, he really has no choice. She's not equipped to debate anyone, let alone Joe Biden.

But to dump her would be to admit he made a mistake and McCain won't do it. Also, the right wing base would bolt.

If said carrot is a creationist fundy kook who also believes the Earth is 6,000 years old and believes that Jesus rode around on a dinosaur, they will bounce giddily to the polls to vote for it, enthusiastically.

In Sarah Palin, they have found their carrot.

23. Oh you bet he would!
There is no way CT voters are sending him to the Senate again, and the Dems probably won't have anything to do with him once they have a more comfortable majority in the Senate...which fortunately looks very likely. Being McCain's running mate would be his last chance at political relevance, and if it comes to that, I bet he would jump at the chance!

who would accept, because he is under the delusion that McCain is going to win big.

But someone like Romney I doubt it. He probably wants to run again and if he does, he isn't going to want to associate himself with this disaster of a campaign.

I do not think that it would be in the best interests of this country for him to dump her..
PLUS
McSame would have to admit that either he made a mistake in picking her...or
She was forced on him by others, and he did not do the deciding.
I do not think he would want to admit either one of those.
His ego is much too big for that.

Palin isn't on the ticket because of her looks or her speaking ability.
She is on the ticket because they are handing the keys to the Dominionists

29. It seems nearly impossible that McCain can win this election
with Palin as a running mate, but even a minuscule possibility that Palin could be one step away from the presidency is frightening. I'd rather McCain dump Palin even though he'd better his chances of winning, just to be sure that Palin will never be the leader of this country.

The difference is pretty striking even if it wasn't genuine confidence.

36. I saw the talk. I disagreed. It wasn't lack of confidence. It was because she had no answers.
I don't see why people are giving her an out. This is why I said Begalia was not swallowing that crap well. It's not about confidence for her, it's the fact she can't answer questions. Someone who could handle the media and has an inkling on what's going on shouldn't be stumped by those lame questions.

Couric asked her about Davis and McCain...she had no real answer for either which says she doesn't even know what she's dealing with. Then they asked her a question about this Alaska/Russia crap and she's been asked that by Charlie Gibson and it's been heard every where and she's still giving a shit answer.

That's not lack of confidence. She's either plain stupid or hasn't even done homework on her own campaign.

39. I heard about that. This pass that she "lacks confidence" is bull shit commentating.
The woman has no clue on what she's talking about. She couldn't even speak on the economy, basically said we'd support Israel if they decided to H-bomb Palestine (or what's left of it)---without blinking, thinking or reprimanding. She couldn't give one reformist policy that her running mate made in congress---all she had to say was "No to Bridge to Nowhere" <--- She conveniently forgot that.

Buffoonary at it's best.

45. Exactly.
She's good with a written speech, but she is a hopeless interview, especially the Couric one. She seems like she is just repeating the talking points they drilled into her head. When she got a question where she had to show some real knowledge, she was just rambling. And she gave a very condescending answer to Couric when she questioned her about getting a passport. Palin is in no way prepared to take the second spot on the national ticket. The repubs should know better, and so should she.

flee from the stage in tears by minute 6, it will be spun that she's the Lincoln to Biden's Douglas (:eyes:) by the usual apologists.

But really, if you've heard her talk at all, can expectations possibly be lowered enough to keep up with the reality? I would not have guess a person could become governor of a state, no matter how much of a backwater it is, and be so utterly clueless.
