Poll question: What are the odds that McCain will show up to the debate?
It is currently 50/50 on intrade.
Regardless of what happens in DC tomorrow, I think most voters will think he is a wimp if he doesn't show up. I think he knows he needs to show up. I say 80%.

So what is the % chance he shows up, and why?

5. He'll be there. If he doesn't show, he'll have 1000 cameras pointing at whatever dark building he's
sitting in. It would be an unrecoverable disaster for him. Even HIS campaign staff must know that.

10. 0%. This is about Palin.
The more I see of the Kouric interview the more I am convinced they are terrified of letting her debate. She could bring the entire campaign down in one night.

McCain will skip tomorrow, renew his offer to have this debate next Friday instead of the VP debate, and they will stall as long as they possibly can - til election day if necessary - on having the VP debate.

13. hm
"She could bring the entire campaign down in one night."

I'd like to think that's correct, but if she's gotten this far and still has any support at all, I'm afraid the Republicans would vote for an inanimate object if it was on the ticket for VP just as long as there's an R next to their name.

15. Dems outnumber Repubs dramatically at this point
McCain absolutely needs Independents and moderate (or racist) Democrats to win. Period.

Performances like tonight will certainly not win any of those.

14. He'll "offer" to debate but via satellite
He'll be in Washington to help his colleagues (since they are the ones balking) but will offer to take part in the debate via video. I wouldn't put it past him.
