Ok I am so f'ing confused about today's WH meeting/deal etc.
What the hell happened today?

This is what I think happened, I have no idea how much of this is right:

Obama, McCain, etc. went to the WH

A deal had been in the works - was it a good deal or a bad one?

McCain does nothing productive, whips something totally new out of his ass, presents it, it calls for no oversight (other than that, I don't know the difference between this deal and the first deal)

Bush backed something, I think it was the first deal

The Republicans backed or did not back? the first deal

Either way, now they definitely don't back it

For some reason some say this makes John McCain look good and us look bad

Others say this makes us look good and McCain look bad

And I'm so f'ing confused....

4. The DEMS should walk away... Just Say No.....
If nothing else.... the DEMS should put it on hold.. buy some time and let McCaine and Bush play out this terrible scheme. Tomorrow is Friday.. it will be lost in the newscycle after 5 pm along with the WaMu Failure.... Barney Frank... Put down your Pen... back away from the table... put hands where I can see them....

So it's McCain's/GOP's deregulation and no-corporate-taxes plan that's on the table now?
The Repukes walked out of the meeting because the Dems wouldn't go for it?

3. Bush called for the two candidates to come in and give their input
...Obama and democrats presented a strong compromise plan, McCain kept his mouth shut and near the end the GOP House reps presented an alternate plan which torpedoed the entire discussion involving McCain's version of complete deregulation and abolishing corporate taxes.

5. So, wait-
McCain's version, with dereg and no corp taxes, was what the GOP House representatives presented, then?

The 'entire discussion' that was torpedoed -- that was the discussion where Dems & Obama were presenting their compromise plan then, right?

I'm sorry for the dumb questions, just kinda over my head and want to understand. Thanks for the response.

8. Forgot to mention.. there is no way this Bailout will work anyway...
The Repukes have already said that it will take $5 TRILLION dollars to put a dent in this crisis. $400 Billion is just a number they pulled out of their ass for the purpose of this stampede. This whole thing is a campaign ploy to try and make McCaine look Presidential and to try and dump the blame on the DEMS. No Bailout. Not Just No... HELL NO. DEMS... Hello.. you are getting PUNKED!
