1. In the new populist consortium of hard left an ultra right...
bad for the bailout is good for the nation.

At least that is what they are telling themselves right now.

Don't know yet if McCain will grab a bullhorn and climb up on a rubble pile of the US economy and tell us who to hate for this.

to hear from McCain. According to a Republican who was there, "all he said was, 'I support the principles that House Republicans are fighting for.'"

Is that funny or what! It's like some of the posts on here:

"What he said."

... in this case, drawn from the encyclopaedic breadth of McCain's knowledge of high finance and government. "What he said."

8. As I've mentioned elsewhere today
he has no understanding of the issue whatsoever and hence is incapable of discussing it. Can't wait to hear him in an open debate on economics with Senator Obama in the future.

14. I agree totally
the public needs to know what the pukes are fighting for. They say in their PR that they are fighting for main street. Not true.

Bullsh*t needs to be called.

Here the Dems are trying to be reasonable (an apparent fault in this world) and the pukes are using this as a platform to declare their independence from *. Grow up and get a pair, pukes. Country first. Riiight.

5. Yeah I don't think they're going to get out of this one.
The whole brainwashed "fiscal conservative" movement is against the bailout so if they pass it, it hurts them. If they don't save the banks it's a fiscal disaster on their watch, even worse for them. It's a losing proposition all the way around no matter what they do. They tried to put the Democrats in a box and all they've done is trap themselves.

The Democrats just need to sit back and wait for the Republicans to come to them on this one. Force them to take their lumps.

9. I heard a rumor that half the Repugs walked out during questioning
of Paulson and company when the Dems made it perfectly clear that tax cuts for corporations and CEOs would not be part of the bailout. I suspect this is the principal the Repugs are holding out for and the one McInsane threw into the mix.

12. Tax cuts? In a situation where a CASH INFUSION IS NECESSARY
Where the f**k do they think the money the government operates on COMES FROM?

I am so SICK AND TIRED of these throwbacks trying to make a diseased philosophy for government bankruptcy BE THE PATRIOTIC THING to do.

How will the government operate if there are no businesses to TAX?

I don't like a blank check for $700 billion. I think it is the Iraq War Resolution ALL OVER AGAIN.

I do know if the banks, insurance companies, and the investment houses ALL FAIL what will happen to our economy and what impact it will have on the world. Why don't these ELECTED LEADERS and THEIR BASE know that.

10. And McLame is screwed now whatever he does.
If he attends the debate, he'll be seen as a liar because there is no way any "resolution" will occur on the bailout and he promised not to show up unless there was one. And if he skips the debate, he'll be seen as a coward and disruptor because his presence was already useless in the ongoing negotiations and he ended up precipitating a more "public" repuke revolt (thus there's really no other place for him to be except at the agreed-upon debate).

If I'm not mistaken, he wasn't originally planning on being there to vote on a bill anyway... But apparently due to piles of bad news involving his campaign staff and the most recent epic fail of his VP pick with Couric, we are treated to this impulsive decision to "do economy" (to distract and try to get himself and Mooselini out of the upcoming debates in one fell swoop).
