The Ultimate RNC Dirty Trick..Trying to Stick the Democrats With Bush
If it were not so sad, it would be humorous. Well maybe it is. I am hoping the American public has finally awoke from its drunken republican slumber of the last 8 years.

When you think about the logistics of this move, it is breathtaking. Paulson and company, who just a couple of months ago, were saying the problems with the financial markets were working themselves out and no intervention was needed. The same Paulson who is lauded from the highest hills by talking heads, has the republicans on the hill saying the democrats are reactionary, and hurting the economy, because they are asking probing questions. That the free unfettered markets always work themselves out. Now remember this was just a couple of months ago.

Now that same Paulson, and company says the country is about to come unwound. He meets with Bush and company, they put out a bailout plan that if we do not sign on too, we will be in a hooveresque movement to another depression. The republicans are accusing the democrats of being reactionary, because they are not stepping up to the plate to help the country. The democrats say okay but we have to have some stipulations. No bailouts for the big wigs, the public gets hardstone collateral etc.

**So, the democrats working for the good of the country, spend 7 days in talks with the republicans leadership, hammer out something that would save the markets.**

Fast forward, Now the republicans from the house, come into a meeting called by the president with all hands on board, and try to scuttle what their leadership worked out with the democrats, because among other things they want to deregulate more and another capital gains tax cut?

Thier minions flank out to the tv commentators, and then start to spew, that this is what democrats do and how they are so willing to spend all this money, etc etc, in essence trying to lay at the feet of the democrats, the bush legacy and presidency, and that the bailout was a democratic idea.

Am I up to speed on this now ???

1. Yup... I think so.
Oh, McCain "saved the day" by arriving when he did and objecting to the Paulson plan.

Not only that, but the new "McCain" plan will not spend taxpayer dollars to bailout Wall Street!

Yea! :sarcasm:

Wait until you hear the entire New Plan.

There will be no bail out. We are screwed.

Where were these "concerned" republicans about the state of the economy, when they spent us into this mess?

2. you may be very right on this.......................and I just read that McCain
was home by 6 p.m. yesterday. He avoided any offices where the "real talking" was going on.

5. The Dems should be smart enough to deal with this.
"After 8 years of siding with George Bush and marching in lock step to give him everything he's asked for, suddenly the Republicans have decided that they no longer want to be on the same side as George Bush. Given the gravity of this financial crisis, they'd rather let someone else deal with the crisis they've created.

When the time comes to step up to the plate and do what is right for this country, the Republicans continue to put party before country, and pass the buck to someone else.

Is this want you want America? Is this the kind of change you envision for your country?

No, it is not. This is politics as usual, and this type of posturing is exactly what brought us to this point in the first place."

6. The republicans have always always put party before country..
I used to be able to at least hear the republicans out, but I have gotten to the point, that the second any of them come on the screen, I flip the channels. I just can't take the games playing and the lies any more
