Beware of today's Gallup tracking poll...
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 09:57 AM by jg82567
The traditional media needs a poll that it can tout to make the race seem like it's tied and Obama "can't close the deal". Since Rasmussen has Obama up by 5 and hitting 50%, and every other poll reflects similar national numbers for Obama, or better, there has to be one, even if it contradicts EVERY OTHER POLL out there, that the media can promote for their purposes. Gallup is either going to show a tie or McCain up by 1-2 pts. And that will be the one that you will hear reported on ALL WEEKEND LONG!

3. Yep. Gallup will show McCain ahead today, I think
Based on extrapolated numbers it will be 48-46.

4. Gallup Loves McCain
He is actively promoting McCain and claiming McCain will win in a landslide, while almost every other poll shows that Obama is the one with momentum.

6. Oh, well - let them delude themselves
Gallup had a bad datapoint - let them live with the consequences.

13. So it's to be mockery then :)
Just kidding. Your instincts were fine, but some days even Gallup can't fudge the trend :)

8. I'll play devil's advocate and predict a one point Obama edge in today's Gallup.
As if that takes much courage.

10. I don't buy the polls anymore. I suspect the variations are due to sampling errors
that are not being accounted for

However, I do believe that a gouping of all the polls does indicate a trend

and that trend is with us

15. Haa haa, you're wrong!!! (hee hee, kidding, just happy for the good news)
Yesterday they probably just got the numbers backwards. Today we're back up by 3, which is a pretty good place to be in for the first debate!
