The debate is on: McCain leaving shortly for Mississippi debate.

CNN is reporting that Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) will be attending tonight’s presidential debate and is leaving shortly for Mississippi. From the McCain campaign statement:

Senator McCain has spent the morning talking to members of the Administration, members of the Senate, and members of the House. He is optimistic that there has been significant progress toward a bipartisan agreement now that there is a framework for all parties to be represented in negotiations, including Representative Blunt as a designated negotiator for House Republicans. The McCain campaign is resuming all activities and the Senator will travel to the debate this afternoon. Following the debate, he will return to Washington to ensure that all voices and interests are represented in the final agreement, especially those of taxpayers and homeowners.

UPDATE: CNN anchor Tony Harris points out that McCain had originally said he that he would suspend his campaign “until a deal is done on this”:

1. Most Keystone-Cop Presidential campaign ever run. It's an hour-by-hour scattershot carnival ride.
Hope we never have to see what his Presidency looks like.

3. He shouldn't be given a pass.
He should be held up to public ridicule. He's unfit to be President.

Obama will debate him, and will win. McCain will still be unfit to be President.

4. Does this mean we can get a bunch of foam sandals
and yell "Flip! Flop!" whenever we see him?

or is that strictly republican territory?

5. That was totally predictable. We knew he would blink. He's a dottering old man.
He can't keep his thoughts straight. He can't see what he looks like to the outside world. He's too busy trying to remember what he was just thinking.
