Holy fuck. Am I getting this right?
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 02:20 PM by GarbagemanLB
McCain suspends his campaign and claims that he won't go to the debate and won't resume campaigning until a deal is reached, and now he is reneging on that and is going to debate even though a deal has not yet been reached?

And to top it off, there are people on this board who think this is a problem for OBAMA? Are you fucking kidding me?

1. no wait! It's better than that!!!
McCain's campaign screwed up and put an ad on the WSJ website that said "McCain wins the debate"! Keep in mind that this ad was discovered BEFORE McCain announced he was going to the debate afterall.

Probably a good thing there is no emoticon for that.

4. AND ...
He never REALLY suspended his campaign like he said he was going to do, he lied and got caught. Letterman busted him getting makeup and interviewing with Couric and aired it on his show! Then Letterman announced not only did he NOT go to Washington, he went on to do a speech at Clinton's world event. By the time he got to D.C. the deal was made without him so he threw a wrench in it to undo it, which is where it stands now. McCain is just proving to the world he is a lying, bumbling idiot!

14. oh yes! I'm not creative enough to make this sh*t up:
http://wonkette.com/403066/well-thats-one-definition-of-wins-debate

Here, on this Wall Street Journal web page featuring this op-ed by Henry Paulson’s wife “John Paulson,” a curious advertisement appeared. It was this one, captured by Wonkette Operative “Evan W.,” so now you know! McCain Wins Debate! He wins by … uh, refusing to even say if he’ll show up! Maverick! And look how he suspended the campaign and all! Jesus christ ….

8. Some people are discussing Republican tactics of using the crisis
to Johnny's advantage, as Newt Gingrich suggested. That's all. They'd say they were refusing to sign and sticking up for the taxpayer, whereas the Dems were caving to Wall Street Elites.

Here's what Newt was suggesting:

If McCain were to come out against the bailout plan, Gingrich said that Republicans would rally to his side and it would become possible for the McCain-Palin ticket to style itself as "taking on the Bush-Obama establishment."

"Either McCain is going to go along" with Obama in supporting the plan, said Gingrich, "in which case the establishment will have the fix in . . . or you are going to see McCain decide, much in the way that he did in picking Palin, that, in fact, he is a genuine maverick, that he genuinely defends the taxpayers, and that this is a terrible bill."

"If the latter happens," Gingrich continued, "I think you will see the emergence overnight of a 'McCain Reform Wing of the Republican Party' and you'll see House and Senate members siding with McCain by overwhelming margins and then you'll be in a very different political environment. You'll have 'Bush-Obama ads' on the one side and 'taking on the Bush-Obama establishment' on the other side, and that will be, frankly, one of the more amazing elections."

10. Yeah well, McCain would have had to have avoided being on
the record for the bailout because otherwise we were going to have a Great Depression, and would have had to not pulled a stunt where he claimed the debates needed to be cancelled and his campaign (not)suspended because it was such a dire crisis in need of immediate remedy with his sure hand at the helm.

He could have gone the populist route, but he didn't. Instead he just wandered all over the landscape saying more or less random shit and changing his position on just about everything imaginable from one moment to the next, looking mostly paniced and clueless and immature while his rival the black mulsin weatherman crazy-racist-preachered Obama looked and acted calm and presidential.

9. IT'S A ROVIAN TRAP!
See, Rove has planned all along for Barack Obama to win this election and usher in forty years of Democratic PArty majority rule all for the Republicans to take back the Senate in 2048.

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

The Evil Rove has it all figured out and his brilliance will guarantee Republican Senatorial victory forty years from now!

20. OH NO! NOT AGAIN!
We'd better not do anything. It might be a Rove trap. Rove is hiding behind every tree. But how can he, you ask? His fat flabby ass won't fit behind a tree.

Rove is just over with a misplaced "R". Fuck Rove. Fuck McCain too. I hope the old fool loses it tonight and throws himself off the stage while mumbling unintelligibly about crosses in the dirt. How grand would that be? :D
