Economic Fraud Investigation? Or PR Front To Kick The Problem Down The Road?

Sometimes, picking through the ashes yields a valuable clue. The economic shitpile has been fairly obvious for a while. So why the lack of enforcement on the fraud front?

When the recent "investigation" was trumpeted regarding fat Wall Street paychecks and potential fraud by greedily bilking company assets for personal gain, my first question was "what took them so long?" Well, lookee what I found:

What's Behind the Drop in Corporate Fraud Indictments?
Is there no more corporate crime -- or has Justice simply stopped looking for it?

..............

..."The task force was formed in the middle of the market free fall," recalls Debra Wong Yang...

"There was concern that foreign countries would start calling in notes. There was a real concern there would be an economic free fall."...

That September, the president gathered hundreds of federal prosecutors, agency directors and regional U.S. Attorneys for a special daylong conference. ...he president told his audience at the Washington Hilton. "The American people need to know we're acting, we're moving, and we're moving fast."

The conference was carefully orchestrated to convey that impression....

You'll remember Deborah Yang from the "fired while looking into the corruption of Rep. Jerry Lewis" part of the USAtty mess. I smell a PR investigation announcement stunt that slow walks this mess into the lap of the next administration.
