As long as McCain doesn't shit himself
and throw his feces at the audience; the MSM will declare him tonight's winner by a huge landslide.

11. I agree

McCain is going to overplay his "I really should be in Washington at this moment of crisis"; and look like a fool.

Unfortunately for us; the MSM is vested in the Horse Race, and will pull the "he did better than expected so there for he wins" routine like they did with Bush. McCain really needs to mess up badly or they will be licking his toes tomorrow.

4. We'll see. They haven't been to complimentary to him the past few days,
maybe they're tired of his BS and this last stunt put them over the top. That's my fantasy, anyway.

5. Doesn't matter.
He lost the people.

The media has largely turned on him too.

We will all know who wins or loses tonight.

8. Maybe not
I think the media is pissed and McPoopstain for a lot of reasons and are hungry for some payback.

On the other hand, they do need to maintain the appearance of a tight race, so they may indeed try to prop him up.

LOL at the image of a psychotic McCain hurling chunks of shit at the crowd... wild eyed and shouting: "I was a POW, Goddamnit. You can all kiss my syphilitic piles!"

15. I tend to agree her as well, but
are you certain that the Media wouldn't love a few more days or weeks of the Horse Race? They are a fickle lot and want viewers more than anything else. I suspect that if McDumass gives them any chance to get back to the "this race is tighter than Tom Brokaw's sphincter"; they will jump on it.

10. I don't think so necessarily
Because McCain has spent months bragging about how good he is in townhall meetings, and excoriating Obama for not showing up. Instead of playing down expectations, he's built them up for months, now lately he's played them down a little, but for too long he's made it sound like Obama didn't want any part of him.

With the American people Obama is almost in a no lose situation, because most people favor McCain on experience, leadership readiness and foreign policy. Just by going toe-to-toe with McCain and even remotely holding his own, he'll eat into those numbers. I also think McCain has spent so much time showboating this week that he'll be unprepared.

12. If McCain doesn't know an answer, he'll be "Presidential."
If Obama includes nuance in his answer, he'll be "wishy washy."

If McCain fumbles and avoids the question, he'll be "folksy" and "down to earth."

If Obama is at all forceful, he'll be "angry." If he's reasonable and fair, he'll be "intellectual" and "academic."

ARGH!!!

If I sound bitter about 2004, it's because I am.

13. I think, as I feared, we got played...
All this has done is to increase viewership for the debate in which McCain has an advantage -- he'll turn it into 90 minutes of "surge surge I was right Obama was wrong victory surge war on terror surge victory retreat-and-defeat Democrats courage surge victory surge surge surge."

And everyone will gush over how he "got up off the mat" and "scored a convincing victory," and the narrative for at least the next week will be "McCain's comeback!" :eyes:

This is Palin Speech II -- The Sequel. How often can we fall into the Republican game of lowering expectations? :grr:

20. I can just see Pat Buchanan chopping the air with his hands now
"Look, he stumbled on that answer about Spain and NATO on purpose. He showed that he can really reach out to the common ignorant people and become one of them. He changed from having international expertise to a man who has other concerns than foreign policy. He changed. He's the change candidate, a common man of the people. It was a brilliant move, Chris."

Wondering out loud as to whether the media will try to prop up McCain is not doom and gloom or giving up on Obama.

Just pointing out if Obama sounds like a college educated intellect and McCain comes across as a high school jock; the media will spin a McCain win. People will not buy it but they will still try to pull it off.

26. I've been thinking this as well...
Until my lunchtime run, when I pondered it some more. The obvious assumption is that the MSM will want to stoke the 'horse race' BS to keep people interested in watching. They think that'd be a great story, and when viewed solely in a vacuum, they'd be right. However, you can't simply ignore the utter monkey poop flinging that's been coming from these morons McCrap and Churchy Spice for some time now. It is a story, and as we've seen, even the MSM can't bury this anymore.

Another thing that we know because we've seen it is that Obama will simply dance circles around McCrap tonight on every level. He may even stop for a second during one of his dances and playfully tap him on the ass, just to set McCrap off. When it comes to intelligence and delivery, it won't be close, and that will not be able to be ignored either.

The crowd tonight will hate McCrap for his latest stunt. He put their pride and their $5.5M on the line for personal gain, and they know that. I would be surprised to hear as much applause for him as we do for Obama.

All that said, perhaps the MSM would be interested in another historic, truly great story - the complete and total meltdown of a campaign right before our eyes and the death of an entire party as a result. The rich folks in the MSM are NOT happy right now - the R's just cost all of them a bundle.

I think someone is going to get a jump on this new great story, and whoever does will likely enjoy huge ratings simply by objectively reporting the facts as opposed to spinning shit to 'keep people interested in a tight race.'
