McCain Camp Realizes Palin is "Clueless" (Mudflats)
Ed Schultz, progressive talk show icon, who visited Anchorage for a Town Hall meeting a couple weeks ago, has a great little news tidbit. From Ed’s website:

Capitol Hill sources are telling me that senior McCain people are more than concerned about Palin. The campaign has held a mock debate and a mock press conference; both are being described as “disastrous.” One senior McCain aide was quoted as saying, “What are we going to do?” The McCain people want to move this first debate to some later, undetermined date, possibly never. People on the inside are saying the Alaska Governor is “clueless.”

The McCain campaign, just like Dorothy and her friends in The Wizard of Oz, has now realized that the giant, intimidating glowing head they believed to be “The Great and Powerful Palin”, is actually the little pudgy man standing behind the curtain, pulling all those levers. Hey….that guy kind of looks like Karl Rove!

Schultz went on to say this morning on air, that Palin’s performance in the mock debate was SO bad, they stopped it right in the middle and didn’t even bother to go on.

One has to wonder how Palin herself is handling this, as the house of cards comes tumbling down around her. The last two weeks have surely gone to show her that there’s way more to being the Vice President than she originally thought when she asked, “What exactly is it that the VP does every day?” just a few short weeks before she was thrust into this situation. When your world is Wasilla, and you’re only just starting to get your feet wet running a state with less than a million people, it’s got to be a bit of a shock when you realize how very much bigger the whole country is, than what you imagined when you “didn’t blink.”

Either the country is going to be in for a classic piece of history in the form of a cringe-worthy, watching-between-your-fingers debate debacle, or there’s going to be some kind of “emergency” that will require Palin’s immediate attention just before the debate.

And for the first time, I’ve been hearing people in Alaska asking, “What’s going to happen when she gets back here after the election?” Her reception will be frostier than the last one, I have a feeling.

7. Expect Piper or Trig to become "seriously ill" late next week.
Sarah Supermom will rush home to AK to tend to her poor little dear and will have to cancel her debate appearance.

They're human beings, dammit. Quit using those cruel nicknames on them.

8. I Think That She Is Going To Implode! Non- Intellectuals Cannot Handle This!
Think About It. It's Always "Alaska" with her.

There Are No Wolves To Shoot, (Well Maybe) or Moose To Dress In Washington.

She Basically Is A "Home Town Girl". She, I'm Sure, Wants To BAIL!!!!!

9. I'm sure she wants to bail, too,
but she's in too deep now. I'm still stunned that she agreed to accept McCain's invitation. Why on earth would anyone jump from a political position where they held an 80 percent approval rating into a situation where they would be savaged day in and day out?

13. Ya Know? What Better Person To Exploit Than This Governor?
Think about it. Of all the states in the union, who more naive than Alaska. Have you been there? Independent thinking people who love the outdoors, not library's. They just needed a female. Christ! They wanted someone that they could mold. Too bad they didn't factor in the mind-set of this poor woman. She's been duped. Out of her league. It's their stupid Repug thinking that picked a dumb, pretty woman thinking that, because she was a Governor, she was smart.
Don't get me wrong. This country should appreciate Alaska's mind-set. Good people that want to be free and live free, but:
This was not ready for Washington Politics.
How very, very sad.

21. And that 80% has sunk to 62% -- not to mention that many who 'approve' of her as AK Gov DO NOT want
to see her as VP.

More Alaskans think Biden would better handle a crisis.

Anyone taking bets on whether AlbatroSarah even serves out her full term as Gov?

11. I don't get it...
Why are we complaining about Palin? We should be happy they made the decision to pick her. Do we want them to pick someone who will be a challenge????????????????? I don't understand why we are the ones upset with their choice. I am happy they chose her. What if they had picked Condeleeza or Colin or...

17. Some of us actually care about leadership in our country.
I don't enjoy seeing the presidential election turned into a mockery. I don't enjoy worrying that McCain-Palin might actually get into the White House. The last two elections were stolen. We can't be sure that this one won't be, too. McCain is in very poor health. There's a good chance that Sarah Palin could be president.

That doesn't make me laugh.

That was impression when I saw the part of the Couric interview where they were walking and talking. She had a look on her face that was pain, strain, or straining to hear.

22. The "unvetted" part
is what baffles me. McCain could have so easily asked anyone in Alaska whether Sarah was ready for prime time, and we would have told him no. His people didn't question anyone up here about her, whether they were allies or enemies. Even her friends know she's not vice presidential material. She's just our girl governor next door...
