RNC buzzword du jour: It's Kerry's actions AFTER the war I don't like...
I've heard this several times on radio shows today, and now, I've heard Gen. Tommy Franks say it. They all said they don't have a problem with John Kerry's service during the Vietnam War, but they have a problem with him testifying and telling about the atrocities and mistreatment of the Vietnamese by American soldiers.

In making his case this evening on PBS, Franks said he supports Bush for President.

This whole thing is obviously orchestrated. You don't get this same steady beat of rhetoric on different talk shows, unless you have people plugged in with their orders.

As to the remarks by Gen. Franks, et al. What are you saying? We should never hear the truth? That's brilliant. That's the biggest symptom of a decaying society, when our government and its various branches, including the military, can run roughshod anywhere and any time with no accountability.

Earlier this afternoon, a wife of a Vietnam vet said her husband's mental problems come in large part from John Kerry testifying on these dark chapters in the war. The host said Kerry served in Vietnam, shouldn't that give him a qualified perspective to make such statements. She replied that Kerry only served 4 months. The host said Bush was AWOL. She replied that Clinton was a draft dodger. The host said so was Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and several others in the Bush cabinet. She replied by saying Bush was at least brave enough to serve in the military.

I think we're reaping what we're sowing from years of retarded TV shows and right wing radio.

General Franks?

Should we shut him up for good or what?

3. Oh, so they wanted the Vietnam war to continue so their little brothers
and sons and nephews could join more of their big brothers in graves and hospital beds?

OK...then say so right up front.

5. The Fascists want to destroy anybody who questions them
They must be exposed for what they are. Bush needs to answer for this Fascism too. Were the people who questioned WMD traitors?

6. They don't like getting the vets the help they need?
stopping the vet hospitals from closing. Beefing up the vet programes to deal with the vets needs?

Well, rethugs hate the troops, seeing how they mock them at every turn.

8. Agreed
ALL of it, including the Paris talks, WITH PRIDE that he had to right and responsibility to speak out in a free nation about a question of moral imperative.

And put it in the context of Iraq and Abu Graib today, that NO American should EVER be expected to apologize for speaking the truth, not even on the theory that it might hurt our soldiers' morale, because the RIGHT TO SPEAK THE TRUTH is what those soldiers are putting their lives on the line FOR.

Those who are demanding that he apologize are the ones who should be ashamed of themselves.

**********

Kerry, the Congressional Record, 1971:

"Mr. Kerry: Well, Senator, frankly it does not appeal to me if American men have to continue to die when they don't have to, particularly when it seems the Government of this country is more concerned with the legality of where men sleep than it is with the legality of where they drop bombs. (Applause.)...

...But at the present moment that is not going to happen, so we are talking about men continuing to die for nothing and I think there is a tremendous moral question here which the Congress of the United States is ignoring...

...But I think if we can talk in this legislative body about filibustering for porkbarrel programs, then we should start now to talk about filibustering for the saving of lives and of our country. (Applause.)

And this, Mr. Chairman, is what we are trying to convey."

********

THAT'S a patriot, not these draft-dodging pseudo-patriots.
