WTF? NYC Firefighters endorse Bush.....
I just heard that on Tweety's show....how can that be....that is worse than Vets endorsing Bush....

What is it that Bush can screw all these groups (firefighters and vets)and they know it but then endorse him when life for them would be so much better if the other guy was President?

endorsed Kerry. :hi:

Read this and relax:

The city's Uniformed Firefighters Association has yet to endorse a candidate, although the national umbrella firefighters union is backing Sen. John Kerry for President.

"We have not made an endorsement. We have not made a decision on whether we are going to endorse anyone," fire union President Steve Cassidy said yesterday.

firefighter unions in the country.

3. A small group: the Uniformed Firefighters. 6,800
the NY firefighters support John Kerry, as does the National Association.

5. It's a mystery
after so many station houses were shut down and how the families of fallen 9/11 Firefighters have had such a hard time recieving compensation

6. From the way that I understand
this it is a group in Elmhurst, Queens not the NYC firefighters main group. The head of this one wants to use the Repukes to get money to settle the contracts. Something like that. Queeens is a county of NYC but more conservative than NY county.

12. unfortunately, it is the NYC firefighters union that endorsed
the lying sack o shit that inhabits the oval office.

the endorsement of the Uniformed Firefighters Association of Greater New York, which represents 8600 firefighters is significant, and it comes because they believe it will give them sway in their contract talks with bloomberg. i hope their souls are worth it, and i hope when they get sold down the river by their new found GOPosse pals they won't mind a little *i told ya so, ya dumb son of a bitch* action. because i'm not above that, honestly.

the IAFF, which represents about 3000 fire lieutenants and captains and engineers endorsed kerry, along with every other firefighters union in the country that i'm aware of.

7. Okay, dude. I have to put you under suspicion a little bit
You have posted a couple of "Quick we are losing, so panic" threads tonight.

Bush was endorsed by ONE local. ONE. Not the NYFD. Not the National Firefighters association.

One Local. That is it.

(Hope you can calm down now after posting how Zogby and Rasmussen were going to post atmospheric poll numbers for Bush)

If you are just anxious - then okay, I'm sorry I jumped on you.
If you are trying to get us discouraged then - F**K off in the nicest possible way ....

I am very anxious....you got it....and I am truly sorry for getting the facts wrong on the firefighters endorsement if I quoted Tweety incorrectly....but in my post about polls I was clear that others here were posting this and I was curious what other people thought about it....i think we are all a little edgy these days....sorry :-)

9. Okay, okay, 1000+ thread guy
Sorry about that. Trying not to jump on people.

Seriously though. Kerry is in a really nice position. I have been interested and active in politics for my entire life .....

And this race reminds me of Carter vs. Reagan. It was tight up to the last week and then it turned heavily to the challenger Reagan - who was optimistic an' upbeat and who was written off numerous times by the press.

Kerry is in the exact same position Reagan was in, IMHO.

me too....as a matter of fact at the end of the month my wife and I will temporarily leave our jobs to work for Kerry and work our asses off for him....cannot wait!

The difference between Carter/Reagan and this election is that Carter was not making shit up about his opponent and lie about him constantly....Kerry has to deal with that and the fact that the media is not going to hold Bush accountable for the lies!

13. True, Carter was a better man than Bush
and bless you and your wife. You are doing more than I am.

But I really think that this smear job appeals to republican more than independents.

Look, you may be right, Bush may win. But I got a really strange feeling about this race. Have for months.

We have a legitamate war on terror and a false war on Iraq,
We have a candidate that is a war hero and a war protestor.

We have a republican party that embraces Nixon. O'Neill. Vietnam Lies.
And we have a candidate that fought against that.

we have a President who did not learn the lessons of Vietnam because he did not serve. A President who is making the same damn mistakes,
Running against one who served, and learned and who was brave enough to say - "No, enough".

I see a strange convergence of history here.

Make no mistake, we have to fight as hard as we can as fierce as we can. But truth and honor is on our side - and that gives me hope.

Peace.
