"No body could have predicted what these 4 years would bring." ~ GWB
(Bushy opened his speech with the preceeding remarks.)

Oh really George. I predicted it, most Democrats/Liberals who voted for Al Gore predicted it also.

Prophecy/parody from the heritics at the Onion: 18 JANUARY 2001

"WASHINGTON, DC—Mere days from assuming the presidency and closing the door on eight years of Bill Clinton, president-elect George W. Bush assured the nation in a televised address Tuesday that "our long national nightmare of peace and prosperity is finally over."

Above: President-elect Bush vows that "together, we can put the triumphs of the recent past behind us."
"My fellow Americans," Bush said, "at long last, we have reached the end of the dark period in American history that will come to be known as the Clinton Era, eight long years characterized by unprecedented economic expansion, a sharp decrease in crime, and sustained peace overseas. The time has come to put all of that behind us."

Bush swore to do "everything in power" to undo the damage wrought by Clinton's two terms in office, including selling off the national parks to developers, going into massive debt to develop expensive and impractical weapons technologies, and passing sweeping budget cuts that drive the mentally ill out of hospitals and onto the street.

During the 40-minute speech, Bush also promised to bring an end to the severe war drought that plagued the nation under Clinton, assuring citizens that the U.S. will engage in at least one Gulf War-level armed conflict in the next four years."

Yes indeed Mr. Bush, many of US predicted what would happen "in these 4 years" ...

6. this just proves that he can tell the truth ocassionally
I sure as hell didn't think he could fuck things up THIS bad. I had a thought today, while reflecting on the fact that the Pugs made 9/11 their centerpiece issue. I was thinking that if Gore had been in his rightful place as our president, 9/11 probably would not have happened, because it is possible that the very reason it did was because it was a BUSH in office. After the indignities and betrayals of the first Gulf War, is it possible that 9/11 happened precisely as a symbolic gesture towards the Bushes?

8. I remember I read it that article...
...the day it was originally posted on The Onion. It stayed in the back of my mind throughout these last few years, and often I would find myself going back to it in amazement at how accurate it was.

Naderites and Republicans will continue to bury their heads in the sand as we head into Iran - with another 4 years of *. :(
