I've had encounters with conservatives in the last week, both in the line of work. I try to avoid politics-I work for a non-profit, and we don't want to get anyone mad-but I'm always alert to political comments so that I can bypass them or shuttle the conversation to a less controversial topic. But this week has been different. Instead of having to listen to how great Palin is, what I've heard from the conservatives is "I'm mad at the government. Politics disgust me." Now I don't know if it had to do with the bailout of Wall Street or with Palin's performance at the debates. But before Thursday, we had folks coming in lauding Palin and all excited about the election. Now it's disgust and bitterness. One person even said she was mad that Arkansas wouldn't allow write ins, because she wanted to vote for Ron Paul.
I think this shows that McCain/Palin is foundering badly. I live in the reddest part of Arkansas, for heaven's sake! And yesterday I saw 3 McCain signs and TWO Obama signs here--the Obama signs were a big surprise. Also saw three Obama bumper stickers and NO McCain stickers.
